So from what I can gather, the Kelvin is Kirk's dads ship right? Nero goes back in time, attacks it to stop Kirk from ever living, right? But Kirk's daddy does something heroic to save all the crew, maybe with Nero not knowing. Idk.

Captain Richard Robau is the captain of the Kelvin. Kirk's father apparently serves as his XO.

That's captain Robau's ship.

No, not right.
Nero's goal, judging by the info we get from the tie in comic books whose story is written by the movie writers, is revenge against Vulcan and Spock.
Kirk just get involved along the way and the Kelvin's destruction is more likely accidental.Wrong place at the wrong time.

According to Pike Kirk's father saves 800 people from Nero's attack.

150 years technology difference. Missiles of the late 24th century are faster than mid 23rd century phasers.

because the weapon in the youtube video is similar to the blue weapons used in the new movie so I wanted to share it.

I don't remember seeing blue phasers fired by the Enterprise or the Kelvin in any of the new movie trailers.

Actually the Kelvin does fire some blue energy bolts in the new trailer.
