Rom and Quark

Tyjos Azari

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Well I always find that the interactions between Rom and Quark are quite funny.

-Watching the end of Season 5 and was laughing when Rom and Leeta were talking about Bajorans leaving the station and Rom is going "We're having our first argument, we're really married!"

I just find it something that adds more to DS9 for some reason. I love seeing Quark and Rom in the episodes bickering or just Quark being bossy to Rom....always saying "I'll toss you out the nearest airlock!"

That was funny too....from "The Nagus"

Rom: "So you were going to toss me out of an airlock?!"
QuarK: "I NEVER MEANT IT!!!!!!!"

I love the interactions between Quark and Rom, too. Rom is such an idiot, but he's very sweet. I think it's cute how devoted he is to Nog - Rom as a single father is a nice parallel to Sisko as a single father.

On a related note, have you ever noticed that when Max Grodenchik grins, he looks just like Rom, even without makeup?

I love how they touched on that in The Ascent. It's brief, but you get a look at Rom and Sisko talking to each other as fathers. It was a neat part of the ep, I thought.

Rom is such an idiot...

In a bumbling sort of way perhaps. He's kind of like TNG's Reg Barclay. His personality makes him appear to be a dumbass, but hidden underneath that clumsy and shy exterior he's actually quite brilliant. :bolian:

I like Quark and Rom too. Can't say enough about what DS9 did for the Ferengi as a Trek race.

I loved Rom. Such an idiot, but a loveable idiot, and not your typical Ferengi. His development (and that of Nog) were real treats to behold.

They had a great interaction
Iremember reading that the writers considered Rom to have a condition like slight autism. So hewasn't an idiot (as he proved on several occasions) but he struggled with social interaction.

I do remember an episode where Nog is describing his father and says he could have been chief engineer on a starship, but because he's locked into the family business, his life is going nowehre. It goes to show that Ron's "idiocy" seems to be much more locked into his being in the wrong field that just doesn't fit.

I loved Rom. He wasn't the smartest when it came to a lot of things but he was great with mechanics. I think it was the sweetest thing when Sisko ended up letting Rom play at the end of the baseball game and what he did for him. That showed a lot of respect towards people who are not always the best at everything. Rom was the kindest hearted man on the show and deserved respect for trying.

I loved Rom. Especially when he was made Nagis instead of Quark and his reactions. It really showed his love for Quark when Quark asked to buy back the bar and Rom just gave it to him. That was my favorite scene between the two of them.
