I am itching to start seeing reviews.. Not for spoilers, mind you.. I just want to know what people are thinking.. There was so much controversy surrounding the re-shoots and the issue of casual fans now knowing this movie takes place before ANH... I'm just curious.

Grace Randolph of Beyond the Trailer has her professional review up. She seems to like it a lot.

Well then. Friday will be an interesting day.

Her tone suggests the movie I've been expected for the most part. And in some respects the movie I've been wanting for ages.

X-wings in battle is something that has been desired again for decades. While the Force Awakens had X-wings in battle, it just wasn't quite the same. Probably because it wasn't a space battle.

Read some of the reviews popping up on Flixster.. Mostly favorable.. One reviewer, however, thought that this was a new Death Star, but then realized it was the original.. Really? REALLY?? Ugh...

Well it is a new Death Star, from a certain point of view. That of everyone in the movie.

But for us, that thing came out about 40 years ago.

All a matter of when when it comes to a TARDIS. Fog, Death Star, Daleks, honeymoon with one queen or another, all a matter of arriving when one is needed. Time will matter later.

Early Rogue One reviews suggest this will be the movie I've waited for since....I guess 1983.

Surely the New Yorker is trolling:

Highlights include:

Man with a sense of humour that Winston Churchill would covet said:
There’s none of the Shakespearean space politics, enticingly florid dialogue, or experiential thrills of the best of George Lucas’s “Star Wars” entries (“Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”). The script of “Rogue One” is so flat and inexpressive, the direction of the actors so methodical, as to render these artists nearly robotic and synthetic.

I saw it today (in Sweden) and Holy Sith it was totally awesome. The best Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back. I really liked The Force Awakens too, but this one was better. I gave it an A.

Don't have time to write anything else since I'll be going on a trip abroad over the weekend in a few hours, but I can say as much as it is darker in tone, and that I love Felicity Jones.

Shmoesknow, Collider, Jeremy Jahns, Chris Stuckman, Cinefix, and Screen Junkies (YouTube channels I follow) have pretty much given the film raving reviews.

It's pretty amazing. Like most have said......3rd act will blow you away.

Well more or less just back from seeing it. A fair few nods to some of the other films.

But I can now explore this part of the forum as I have been avoiding it for months.

Just got in from midnight showing so won't go into too much detail but its one of the most visually stunning movies to date, with the best action from any Star Wars movie. Some nice nods to the OT but it's stamps it's own mark on a new type of Star Wars movie and Disney buying Star Wars was the best thing to happen to that property. The final act in particular could be the best out of any Star Wars movie to date. I do prefer Force Awakens but that's because it deals with the Skywalker saga and I gave that an A- so for me I give Rogue One a B+ but with reflection and a 2nd viewing it could end up being an A-

I still haven't seen any of the trailers. ALL of the footage I am about to watch will be totally new.
