Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

Cannot wait. Seeing it in just under two hours. If I am hoping for a hard boiled espionage/military operation film with minimal force and light saber action, am I going to the right place?

Force action would be limited by default to perhaps the bland man and Darth Vader. Lightsaber action would be only Darth Vader, and if he lights it up, a lot of people are dying. Which stands to reason considering how feared he is suppose to be.

As for the rest, your probably going to the right place. The movie being speculated to be similar to is the Dirty Dozen.

As for a flight sim, I still prefer joysticks to other controllers.

Yessssss.

I know 2016 has been a bad year for many, but it's shaping up to be one of my favourites: graduation from Uni, and now my dream Star Wars movie.

Alright, i'm off. Let's hope this is a better holiday special than that other Star Wars holiday special that will remain nameless.

Loved the film. Hey, I couldn't hear what those two troopers were saying on Scarif. Can someone clarify this dialog for me:

"Hey, did you hear the rumors? They say the [unintelligible] is about to be declared obsolete."
"About time."

I'm having hearing problems since I got sick last month. Thanks.

I was hoping to see it today, but the shows at the theater I go to were selling out faster than I could keep track of on Moviephone.

T-16...the skyhopper like Luke owned on Tatooine.

Actually he says that the T-15 are obsolete.

Just came back from the movie theater.

Also...

I've read about it but I didn't catch it in my first viewing.

I've also read that…

…after Jyn delivers the news about her father’s message to the Rebel Alliance council, a “General Syndulla” is being summoned to report over the loudspeaker.

Very brief review: This is a great movie. It's accessible to the general audience, it's filled with references for the fans that let them appreciate it even more with that knowledge, but all those references serve the story as a whole.* Overall, it just manages to be fun from beginning to end.

* The best example for me is Saw Gerrera, who I knew from having watched The Clone Wars maybe last year. He was shown as an aggressive rebel leader, willing to take things to extremes. Here, we see him as an aggressive rebel leader willing to take things to extremes. The scenes on Jedda and the portrayal of the Rebellion warts and all were probably the highlights of the movie to me.

ETA: I didn't realize there's another thread for reviews. I'll repost my thoughts there.

I guess the character of Bria Tharen, who was part of a mission to retrieve the Death Star plans in an EU novel, has been made obsolete. Damn shame.

It's a pity that the first cast of characters portrayed by a multi-cultural cast ended up as a one shot deal. Pity.
