Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

lmao, people are complaning about the X-Wing taking down the AT-ACT.
Baze also just shot it with a rocket launcher, so I'm thinking that probably weakened the armor some, even if it didn't noticeably damage it.

First image of Bail Organa in R1 (maybe, people think they spotted him in BTS footage)

I wonder if he appears on Rebels again if they'll change him over to this outfit?
The Radio drama has Luke and Wedge guard one more final transport, and take out a Star Destroyer, before Luke goes on his own thing.

As for Saw, I'm guessing that he's the Bryan Cranston of the film, the big name actor who gets killed fairly early on, as he doesn't seem to be present in what I assume are later scenes. However, at least they're not really advertising him as the main character, which is kind of where Godzilla's advertising went wrong.
I'm wondering if he stays behind on Jedha and gets killed when the Death Star fires on it. Pretty much everything we've seen with him appears to be there.

That's probably going to be the highlight scene. It's going to take along time to take down AT-ACT's

Sort of like taking down a Terminator.

Another thing about those Walkers, they are slightly different than the ones in Empire-they're cargo transports while the Hoth ones are troop transports, so the Empire ones might be more heavily armored too-maybe even because of the Rogue One battle. So X-wings may have been as effective as the Snowspeeders were blaster/laser wise.

I would hope that a Starfighter would be more effective than a airspeeder in combat. If nothing else because it has more power to provide for not only the hyperdrive, but shields, and more and probably larger laser cannons.

Though in Rebels, the Ghost engaged some walkers in strafing runs, with only its torpedoes really doing all that much. But then a lighsaber can cut the legs off those things. We know the neck is a weak point, and that the blasters on another AT-AT can go damage to the armored areas.

I remember in the "Dark Empire" first issue, one of the coolest things about that was Luke managing to take out a Walker by pretty much deflecting some of it's fire with his saber, and then using the force to unsteady it (although I think the Falcon had softened it up for him at least at first).

I think Vader performs a similar feat to the Rebel-commandeered Walker in the recent Marvel comics as well.

So, if it's now confirmed Bail Organa is in Rogue One, will we get to see R2-D2 (and C3PO) receiving the stolen plans at the end? There are some ads on TV similar to the ones leading up to TFA where kids are fighting stormtroopers, and say something like "we have to get this droid to the rebels!" (showing R2).

I wonder: does Rogue One end with Tantive IV flying off, being chased by an Imperial Star Destroyer?

No, because we saw R2-D2 get the plans in A New Hope from Leia. She placed the plans in R2 as per her message to Obi-wan Kenobi. If we get any close shots or interiors of the Tantive IV we might see them, the old Radio Drama had them outside the ship "doing repairs" as part of their cover story for being in the system.

We probably will see the Tantive IV jumping to hyperspace with Darth Vader ordering a pursuit. That would basically be "ten minutes before A New Hope starts".

One way or another, we *will* see Artoo and Threepio. There's just no way they would leave them out, it'd almost feel blasphemous to do otherwise. ;)

Joking aside, using the droids is probably the most economical way to directly connect these two movies. You really can't use Leia without a body double, some very impressive CG face replacement wizardry and an uncanny vocal impersonator because obviously, you can't use Carrie Fisher for any of those things anymore and a mere lookalike would just seem weird. Not impossible, but that's a *lot* of trouble and expense for what would probably end up being one scene.

I suppose they could just go with the body double, not have her speak and always face her away from the camera but that might seem a little too cheap. Plus, from a visual narrative POV, it steps on her reveal in ANH, if one were to watch the two films back to back. I think in the grand scheme it's best to preserve that reveal.

Rumor has it that the movie ends 10 minutes before ANH

I think we'll see the Tantive IV receive the plans, perhaps the discussion that leads to them being handed to Leia. Perhaps one of the bridge officers giving a report about an incoming Star Destroyer

But I don't think we'll actually see Leia or the droids.

Oops. Of course. Slipped my mind. But I still wonder if R2 will make an appearance.
I would definitely imagine so. When we see Leia bending over R2 in ANH, she is recording the message to Obi Wan... The plans may have already been downloaded into R2 previously, especially as they must have known the Tantive IV was being pursued. It would have made sense to put the plans in R2 right from the start, as a way to make sure they stayed intact, should the ship's computer systems be badly damaged or destroyed. It's easy enough to jettison a droid in a pod.

Marvel/ILM have managed to do some interesting visual tricks lately with the Marvel leads, such as the 80's Robert Downey Jr in Civil War and skinny Chris Evans in the first Captain America, so maybe a CGI Carrie is possible. We've come a long way I think from the overly smoothed out Jeff Bridges (In Tron Legacy) and Patrick Stewart (From X-men 3 and Origins: Wolverine) We might see a bit of this with Tarkin, although it's also possible they just brought back Wayne Prygam, especially since they brought back O' Reilly and Smits.

IIRC, it has been reported that Tarkin has a small role in the movie which will be accomplished by digitally inserting footage of Peter Cushing.
