Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

These rebels have hope. It be fitting I guess if the crystal was passed onto their new hope (Skywalker) who blew up this Death Star. How they manage that is unclear since I still expect all these people to die to get the Death Star plans out.

IIRC, the blurb for Catalyst, which takes place during the Clone Wars, says she's three years old in the novel.
Just had a quick look and it doesn't specify her age, though it does seem to take place during the Clone Wars (mentions Separatists & Chancellor Palpatine.) So yeah, not surprisingly she was born prior to Order 66 which makes her mum being a Jedi unlikely.

It can't be a coincidence that Galen's wife carries around a kyber crystal, is an expert in focusing energy and get recruited into a weapons project that uses massive kyber crystals. It's also probably not a coincidence that Jyn is on Jedah in the movie. So far, all signs seem to point towards the Ersos being "force believers." What if they once served in the Jedi Temple? What if they met there before they had Jyn?

Is it weird that I'm already burning out on Star Wars movies? I think it's the fact that Disney is going to have two movies in production continuously for the next 100 years. I'll probably only watch the numbered series. It's sort of like the Marvel movies. There are so many I only bothered watching Avengers & Iron Man.

Considering you've seen at most two new Star Wars movies in the last decade, yes, it is weird.

I'm cool with it as long as they stick to one movie per year. If they start cranking out three movies per year I might start to get burned out.

Cool story bro...

I don't mind two or three a year if they are well made and not rushed. I like that universe and those films are about the only ones I will watch in a theater.

It will be a while before they can get to that. Plus at one film a year it will be a while before they get to a lot of stuff. At this point in time we know only that there will be movies until 2019 with probably a film in 2020. After that is unclear. It will depend on if Rogue One is successful and if the Han Solo movie can continue that success. The Episode film up to IX are a given at this point. After that is an unknown. They will probably have a third anthology movie after Episode IX, but it has not been announced yet. They could not do one if Rogue One flops, just sticking with the Episode films and the Cartoons.

Oh yeah, that's a clear, unbound kyber crystal. Very interesting.
Could her mother be a failed padawan that left the order after her trials on Iilum? Or at lest descended from someone that did and the crystal in a family heirloom? Jyn seems too old to have been born after Order 66, so her mother probably isn't a Jedi survivor like Kanan. Perhaps she's not a force user at all and wearing a clear crystal is a "Church of the Force" thing?

I'm sure a lot of people are going to jump on this as an indication that Jyn is Rey's mother. Admittedly that's not impossible by any means, but I doubt they'll go there.
The mention of The Force and the Kyber crystal definitely hint at some interesting possibilities.
I'm also wonder what Vader is doing in that last shot of him at the end, the way his hand is curled it looks like he's using some kind of Force power, choking Krennnic perhaps?
I posted this in the books thread, and since it's RO related I'll go ahead and post it here too.

After that trailer I'm even more curious about Catalyst now, especially with the article specifically mentioning a big role for Jyn's mother.

I believe Vader is in fact force choking someone, I think it's either Jyn's dad or Krennic.

Space battle footage from Rogue One:

Was that a Mon Calamari star cruiser?

I really want to pause the footage of the rebel fleet and see what's there.

All I can identify is a couple of Nebulon-Bs, at least two Hammerheads along with a bunch of Blockade Runners & GR-75. The only one I can't pin down is on the far right of the last frame. You can only see part of it, but it does sort of remind me of this design.

I am guessing what they are attacking is a gap in the shield generator? or maybe just a defense platform. There is a Star Destroyer parked there.

Looks like an orbital defence platform or staging facility of some kind.

Not really related to Catalyst, but something I just picked up on looking at the pictures in that article. Regarding the "pens" that seem to stick up from pockets near the shoulders of the Imperial uniforms, I noticed Krennic only has one pen on each shoulder, which seems odd considering the high rank he presumably has. Tarkin has two, and on Rebels so does Thrawn.

The pen-shaped things in the pockets on Imperial uniforms were described in Tarkin as containing coded information about the wearer. So maybe they contain sort of a combination of personal data and clearance codes.

I think I'm at the point now where I want to go dark on Rogue One until it comes out. I'm starting to feel like I'm seeing a little to much and I'd like to save the rest as a surprise.

And yeah, that ship sort of does look like Satine's old cruise liner after all.
