Rogue One (2016) [SW Anthology Series)

First international trailer. WARNING: contains major spoiler about one of the characters (described in the tag below). Watch at your own risk!

Not as good as the "American" trailer and that spoiler, for those keeping an eye on the production, what is in the spoiler can be inferred.

Mads Mikkelsen is already confirmed to be playing Galen Erso, Jyn's father. Perhaps he was involved in the construction of the Death Star?
I believe that Galen Erso is the chief designer of the Death Star or the Super "Laser" ETA: He may not be a willing participate in the design and construction.

Yeah, that spoiler's been rumored for a while now, so this is pretty much just confirmation at this point.

I know they said what his relationship to Jyn was, but I think this was the first we got an official source saying what his role in the story is.

I'm really looking forward to this movie. However, I do wonder why the Disney suits thought a reshoot was necessary. For what scenes, I wonder?

They possibly did a mass of reshoots for the character of Saw so that he'd look more like his Clone Wars version with hair. Other than that, it sounds like they just had scheduling problems getting people back for the reshoots since they had to delay them a month due to the director having a conflict in scheduling.

You're suggesting that they actually burned money just to get him to look like the cartoon? I don't think so.

No, it's much more likely that there was a more fundamental issue that they were addressing. In the process of doing that, they had the opportunity to revise Saw's look and so revised it just for bonus points.

Pretty sure FW said somewhere that the different look is something that happens in the course of the film. So presumably he goes to the barber in act two.

As for the reshoots: these days, there are always reshoots. Especially on complicated effects heavy movies. It's simply how it's done. If things really are as dire as the naysayers claim then you can be damn sure matey bloke wouldn't be the director anymore and certainly wouldn't have come to Celebration last month.

Oh, maybe. I watched a video that claimed to have footage showing a changed look in the reshoots, but I have no idea.

This is what happens when you give credence to people that just spin theories as fact based scant information on and/or read clickbait. It just perpetuates the nonsense.

Yeah, that would be why I said that I have no idea. My main point, which I see no reason to retract, is that I really doubt that they did reshoots just to revise Saw's look. As for the footage in the video, it did seem to be the same scene with two different looks for the character, but that, as you said, proves zilch.

Forrest Whitaker did sound a little different in the second trailer than he did in the first one, too. But I agree with @CorporalCaptain that those changes are more likely a side effect of the reshoots, not the main cause behind them.

Well, they did bring in Tony Gilroy to help with the reshoots and editing.....

Which is something he's done before. It's like bringing in Tarentino to do a dialogue polish (ever seen Crimson Tide? Who do you think wrote in the pop culture references?) or that time Lucas hired Spielberg to work on the pre-vis for Anankin/Obi Wan fight in RotS.

It's not a sign the movie is in trouble, it's a sign they want to make sure it gets the best attention it deserves. Believe me, if things are even half as bad as some insist on then the studio wouldn't be bringing in a specialist to help the director, they'd be firing his arse and getting a replacement in ASAP and as I said, he wouldn't be allowed anywhere near their press events. Much less showing up dressed as a Stormtrooper to someone else's Q&A. These are not the actions of a troubled production. It's just what happens when a production is so good at keeping a lid on things, the clickbaiters will just start making it up.
