My show finally came around. We saw
The Wall Live on Friday night in the lovely city of Oakland.
Let me just start at the end and work my way backward. This is the best concert I've ever been to, and I've been to hundreds. Simply, utterly, amazing.
The production was huge, the technology to project the images and videos on the wall was incredible, and the sound system he's using on this tour made everything sound crystal clear.
Roger is pretty spry for a 67 year old man! He really put on a big, theatrical show. His voice sounded excellent, and everything was live except the megaphone section of
Waiting for the Worms (which was off the hook). In fact the whole second half of the show was a complete mind-scrambler. It's very interesting how this material has been re-imagined in a modern context completely seamlessly.
We had second row center seats, and it felt like we were inside the production. It was almost overwhelming in scope and scale. Unfortunately my crappy Blackberry took crappy pictures (he explicitly allows photography as long as you don't use a flash). Here's me and my friend at intermission, with our backs against the wall....

Not a great picture I know, but it was a rough night...
Another friend of ours took great photos at the Tampa show, which you can check out here:

In any event, if this show is coming to your town, go get tickets. Now. You will not be disappointed.
