Reliance Big Entertainment, the Indian company that just screwed over DreamWorks' funding, has acquired rights to Rob Liefeld's graphic novel Youngblood and has hired Brett Ratner, of Red Dragon, X-Men 3, and the Rush Hour series, to direct the adaptation. RBE paid an excessive mid six figures for the rights and has fast-tracked the project. Youngblood, first published by Image Comics in 1992, is about a superhero team sanctioned and overseen by the US government. "Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and Youngblood is one of the few comic books left with tentpole potential," Ratner told Variety.
