"Roddenberry Vault" Blu-ray Video Mastering

Is the video mastering of the episodes on the Roddenberry Vault BD set the same as on the corresponding episodes in the earlier complete TOS set, or were they remastered again for that later set? TIA. (I'm not referring to the "improved" special effects, just the overall sharpness and color of the episodes.)

The digital compression has been re-encoded from VC-1 format to AVC MPEG-4, the episodes are sourced from the same underlying video masters as the 2009 and I didn't notice any particular differences from the 2009 Blu-rays to these discs. (highdefdigest.com January 2017)

I remember some viewers claimed the new encode looked better, but I don't remember where I read that. I don't have the Vault set, so I can't comment.

There are a couple of differences.

"The Cobomite Maneuver" has the Fred Steiner cello theme in the opening credits (on the original effects/music track). The series blu rays have the electric violin theme. The cello version, BTW, is correct.

"Arena" has the TOS-R "repair" over the episode titles (added mountains, missing hanging piece, added crater) in the original effects scene. The Gorn blinks in both versions. So some kinda werid confusion fell into the mix.

I don't think the transfers look any better, though.

The reason I asked my original question is that the colors on the vault BD looked to me more vivid (especially "City"). Of course, it could just be my imagination.

I found a used Blu-ray on a holiday of this wonderful documentary, and I can't believe how behind the times of this release I am.

It was both the perfect excuse to watch some of my old favourite episodes from the show and see deleted scenes.

It was fascinating having another insight into TOS production history too outside of reading Inside Star Trek several times. ;)
