Rod Serling biopic!

I'm definitely interested in seeing this. A Roddenberry biopic would be interesting, too, but I imagine neither CBS nor Paramount wants a film about the creator of their Sacred Cow being made.

That's be pretty interesting, but yeah, I do see the issues. Often though, when a biopic is made, it's made to honour someone and their legacy, so who knows? And who'd play Roddenberry? Philip Seymore Hoffman?

I started a thread about that not long ago on another BBS. My thought was Beau Bridges. Others suggested Nick Chinlund (who bears a fairly strong facial resemblance and is the right size) and Richard Kind (I don't see that one).

Maybe James Franco as the young Serling?
That may be my favorite choice so far. He's a rising star who wouldn't cost an exorbitant salary yet.

If we were going for physical resemblance, the producers would probably just go ahead and cast Ed Wasser, but they'd obviously prefer (1) a better actor and (2) a more familiar name.

Now Ed Wasser was my first choice, particularly given comments made by jms and having met Mr Wasser. But I haven't seen anything of him outside of B5. The rather slow somewhat deadpan delivery of Morden would lend itself well to the persona we saw of Serling on camera... but off camera i have no idea what Serling was like. Regardless, the physical resemblance is good enough that I'd at least like to see Wasser be given a chance to try out.

I'm not sure if I'd call him a rising star anymore. He's been nominated for an Oscar and hosted the ceremonies. He's everywhere right now.

Wasser looks a lot like Serling, but as an actor he's a nobody. Since Babylon 5 ended, I count seven roles on IMDB, either bit parts or appearances in short films that aren't noteworthy.

I'd make a fantastic Rod Serling. I'll call my agent. :mallory:

This sounds like a potentially great film. I'm very encouraged that Carol Serling is involved. :bolian:

Hmm, maybe. I'm not sure how much resemblance Rockwell has to Serling, but he's certainly a versatile character actor and could probably pull off the personality.

I still would given that while he's enjoyed some recent success and recognition, he still has plenty of room for advancement. He's not what I'd call A-list .... yet
