We can guess they are not Data type androids but what type?R2D2 non speaking ....Farscape drd.......C3PO/Twiki style......BSG Cylon type bad guys?

Perhaps the event that was mentioned in TOS that Fuller claims will be significant to Discovery involves Roger Korby crashing on a certain planet...
I hope we see some interesting Robot designs.
I wonder why Fuller said robots instead of androids. "Androids" would be too on the money? Could Robot refer to a probe, like NOMAD?
We know the ending of WALGMO?, there really is nowhere for the story to go other than his disappearance, finding the android hideout then shagging them. But did he get shaggy with them before or after his replication. Probably before, eh? That would explain why he needed a new body. lol
Anyway, reading the MA page on that episode, the "ancient civilization: built their machines too well, became fearful of them, and started shutting them off. Survival outweighed programming; the androids murdered their creators." could be the event spoken of but never seen.
It this also could somehow explain the Brent Spiner rumor.

Do even know that they're humanoid or even humanish? (In the sense that R2-D2 is "humanish.") He may just mean the're be some kind of service/maintenance robotics--something one might find at a factory or plant.
My first thought upon hearing there'd be robots was a picture from one of the old FASA Trek booklets which had a Star Wars/The Black Hole-ish droid floating around a Regula-1 style space station.
I think it'd be cool if the Discovery had a pet droid, like Flint's M-4.

That's what I thought of. Or maybe those sort of insectoid designs from Star Wars, e.g. the med droid in Empire Strikes Back.
It's a shame the big/little pair-up has already been done.
Most AIs in Trek do to. Data, the EMH, M-5, Ruk, Lore.... ( Murderous is a kind of quirky)
GUNTHER and Daleks don't have personalities? Hell the guys from MST3K.
M-4 exhibited one, too. When it drops the bag of ryetalyn on the table and flies off, it's as if it's in a snit.
