Robotech Remasterd Edition on Hulu

Now, do you mean "remastered" in the accurate sense of "restored to maximum possible quality by going back to the original master prints," or in the incorrect fan usage of "altered with newly created footage?" I only ask so I'll be clear on what these episodes actually have to offer.

The accurate sense, not the incorrect fan usage. The footage was "restored to maximum possible quality by going back to the original master prints" for a DVD release a few years ago. Scenes were also restored from the original Japanese versions--Superdimensional Fortress Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeda--that were excised from the original 80s American broadcast. For example, there's a scene in "Booby Trap" where Roy Fokker inspects Minmay's hindquarters, which was cut originally but has since been restored.

The remastered edition also has altered credit sequences for each "generation." The original show had a credit sequence that showed clips from each "generation." Now it's generation specific with the title chyron labeling what generation the episode belongs to -- i.e. The Macross Saga, The Masters, and The New Generation. What's been done is that Harmony Gold has used the original, uncut title sequences from the Japanese versions with the Robotech theme, American credits, and the famous film reel scroll.

Edit: How embarrassing! I just noticed I misspelled "remastered" in the title -- MODS, can you please fix?

Yeah my brother called and told me about it. I watched ep 1 yesterday. I did notice the quality was very sharp. I hope they keep them up for a long time. The dvd sets are to expensive.

I was watching the Masters and was a bit stunned to see NUDITY of the clones. I don't remember that from the broadcast version.

That's because this isn't the broadcast version the remastered versions contain footage edited for content.

It's a shame that the original Macross is now oop it's a much better show than the butchered Robotech version imo.

There are "remastered" versions of Macross floating around on the net, with dual language tracks and very clean footage.

I should have been more specific I was referring to the ADV DVD's. There is also of course illegal downloads but stating they exist is like saying the sky is blue.:) I assume they are just rips of the ADV DVDs since the Robotech version and the Japanese originals have differences in the story. From what I know the R2 DVDs have the best picture quality but I'm sure they have no subtitles and are most certainly not Robotech.
