Roberto Orci want both Shatner and Nimoy in Star Trek 3

Perhaps they'll technobabble the blood has to be fresh or something to work.

I'm betting they'll simply ignore it altogether. Especially, if the movie takes place during the five-year mission and the Enterprise is far from Earth.

They might. But, could also simply be that it could not be replicated without the source material, and they were not willing to keep Khan around as a security risk.

Or, you can simply have the blood have nasty side effects* that Kirk is still recovering from.

Side effects may include

There will be many more Star Trek adventures in years to come, but is there any doubt that Shatner and Nimoy should be at the forefront of the 50th Anniversary? To many people they are Star Trek.

I hate to say it, and I hope for the best, but Nimoy being at the forefront of at least a lot of the 50th Anniversary stuff for Trek will depend on his health and stamina.

Pics of both in character from last year.

Didn't we already have Generations for old Kirk and Trek for old Spock?

They both worked, so why not go new?

Why does it have to be a rehash?

Rehash of what? Is old Kirk gonna pop out of the nexus to battle Soran on a bridge in this film? Will Soran be running around blowing up suns?

Re: Roberto Orci want both Shatner and Limoy in Star Trek 3

I'd love it if Shatner came back. Him and Nimoy sharing a scene together after 25 years would probably bring tears to my eyes.
They could have a big argument, repeating lines from "This Side of Paradise", with snippets of "overgrown jackrabbit", "elf with a hyperactive thyroid", etc., then both Spocks kill him in a rage.

I hope this doesn't happen. It'd completely overwhealm the movie (which SHOULD have a focus on the new versions of the characters, not constantly looking backwards at the old ones). Nimoy's got a legitimate excuse for being in the new movies, though frankly I'd rather he wasn't this time (for the same above stated reason). But to have Shatner in it as well would IMO unbalance things and, inevitably, take away from where the focus should be: on the new versions of the characters.

Yes, even a "harmless cameo" would probably be too much. :p

The final scene:

A FAMILIAR VOICE: Computer, end program.

The camera follows as Shatner and Nimoy exit a holodeck.

SHATNER: See, Spock? I told you, life is but a dream.

NIMOY: I think it's time for a colorful metaphor.

FADE TO BLACK.

OK, so if this does happen, and Shatner is Kirk, they better do something about Pine and Shatner having different colored eyes. I can take Urban's hair being parted on the wrong side. I can live with Pine's hair being too light. But, James T. Kirk cannot have two different eye colors. I mean, the difference will have to be explained on screen, won't it? I'm SO boycotting this movie if the two Kirks have different color eyes and there's no explanation for it.

Edited to add: I've got it! Just say Pine's Kirk's eye color was due to a severe allergic reaction to retinox 5 as a kid. Whew! I feel better, now.

newyork post published an interesting article of shatner's return and I can not help but agree. I wish fans will stop saying shatner should return due to nostalgia.

star trek 3 should be 100% original and fresh with all the spotlight shown to the cast not the old guys whose time has clearly past.

I wouldn't put much into that article. They can't even get their own rant correct about "reference-palooza". The first example they give of this lack of creativity is Family Guy's spoof on the opening to the Great Space Coaster. They say:

Some of the lazier episodes of “Family Guy” are also guilty of the same thing. One episode inserted Peter Griffin into the opening credits of “The Great Space Coaster.” No jokes or ideas beyond that. The show just perfectly aped the sequence.

They then provide a YouTube link to the sequence -- which clearly ends with a "joke or idea beyond that."

I can not believe people are making a big deal over the eye thing. shatner can easily get a blue contact to match pines eye. just look at all the twilight and lord of the rings films. the vampires got creepy red eyes andall the elves got blue eyes. so is no biggie. its also nothing a visual effect can not correct.

They won't need to explain it, because in the prime universe Kirk has different color eyes. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if we see Shat on the screen, it will be prime Kirk.

This would have been a great place to say something about what was expressed in the article, and then elaborate upon why you agree with it.

Instead, we have:
I wish fans will stop saying shatner should return due to nostalgia.
Which is essentially no different than saying:
"I wish other fans would stop expressing opinions which aren't the same as mine."
Never mind, for the moment, that I've asked you on several occasions before to refrain from taking pokes at fans or groups of fans for holding opinions which are different than yours, but why would you wish that?

Here's a tip:
Don't worry about what other fans think; they're just as entitled to express their opinions as you are.

Learn it. Know it. Live it.

It was a joke, and not a big deal.

Even if it had been serious, relax - it's just someone else's opinion. People have those, and they aren't required to agree with yours

This is the WORST time to 'use' the movie just to satiate the nostalgia of a little part of the audience (some old star trek fans).

Right. The best time was 2009, and they actually did it. Let it go, and Trek your own Trek.

^ Kirk was shown getting the chair to the Enterprise-B, and opting to give it back to its true owner, while he essentially saved the day in a more hands-on way. He didn't necessarily need to do that again with the D, barking orders to Worf or Riker.

Damn, that would have been so much better.

When its THE WORST "death" scene in Star Trek history, then yes!

Ah, so your problem isn't that he was scared. You don't like the scene, so you're trying to justify your dislike.

Just popping into say that I DEMAND AN APPEARANCE BY ADMIRAL DENNY CRANE.

In the event that this happens, all will be forgiven and I will personally send Roberto Orci a fruitbasket.

That is all.

I was thinking yesterday wouldn't it be cool if the wrap around story for ST13 was Shatner and Nimoy revisiting a planet 50 years after their first visit, then the main body of the movie would be the first visit. (i.e. they're playing older NuKirk and Spock)

At the end we go back to the far future and old Kirk & Spock wrap up unfinished business - it would give the duo a meaningful way to return and fit with the idea that the story is about deep space exploration. PS they're still in Starfleet so they get to wear snazzy new uniforms!!

I think the appearances if they go through will be more than one-scene cameos as Shatner has been vocally against that in the past.
