Roberto Orci Offers Star Trek 2 Update

^But, ah...many of said ideas contradict each other....

We can make it work. We have the technology... and plot holes.

I'm so glad none of you are writing the next film.

Way too much over thinking going on here.

I suggest that someone write a screenplay incorporating all of these ideas for more effect.

Someone already did. It was called "Of Gods and Men" and boy, was it terrible!!

Haven't seen it yet. I probably won't look at ST the same way again if I did.

I really liked Of Gods and Men. It was a far better epilogue to classic Trek than "These are the Voyages"

Loved "Of Gods and Men". Officially dubbed "Star Trek XI" in my mind. A fun, affectionate romp through canon it was. Vastly entertaining.
That JJTrek thing is "The Abomination".

Wow, with such praise like that it must be good.

I like "Of Gods and Men" also. Makes you wonder how George Kirk's death affected the new timeline. "Enemy Starfleet" is finally out, but I can't bring myself to watch it. Kirk kissing the old gal just ain't doing it for me. And I'm no spring chicken either. :guffaw:

OGAM was an intolerable pile of fanwanky pandering crap.. What the hell was that space battle about at the end?? They got the words wrong to "Charlie's Our New Darling," and boy was that scene sappy. I felt cheated of 90 minutes of my life. And this guy wanted to produce season 5 of ENT. I think we all dodged a bullet.

Dax could also make an appearance and come to the conclusion that McCoy has the hands of a surgeon.

Emony--ABSOLUTELY!

A gymnast, with an athletic figure, and (according to Ezri) quite in touch with her emotions....

Hmm...who could play her?

(One problem, though: Jadzia implied that Emony made that observation BEFORE Bones became a doctor--apparently before he was married, too....

So, an actress who would look like a contemporary of Bones, but still look on top of her game? Perhaps a Jane Fonda type--

Wait a minute.)

OGAM was entertaining and wasn't that terrible when you allow for the fact that it was a fan movie with a much lower budget and far lower production values. The script certainly needed more pruning than NuTrek but the absence of lens flare must count for something!

The only 'fan' movie to date that really compares to 'official' Trek is World Enough and Time, and that's probably because it's the finest Sulu episode ever written. It was nominated for an award but lost out to Doctor Who's 'Blink' which is no shame, since Blink was one of the best Doctor Who episodes of the new run by far. Where OGAM failed but WE&T and NuTrek suceeded was allowing us to invest emotionally in the characters. Explosions and Trek lore will not make a movie that will engage a wider audience. JJ et al are still a bit reliant on explosions but I think they understand what should sell the movie - for now at least.

OGAM was directed by a professional, had professional actors, crew, designers, etc. There is no excuse for how awful it was. The fact that there are those here who will defend such a piece of shit says a lot. I'll bet you liked Babylon 5, too.

Ouch... dem be fightin' words.

As it at least better than Phase 2 or whatever it is? I can't sit through that thing without laughing my ass off or face-palming from extreme second hand embarrassment.

Maybe I don't understand the "core" of Trek appreciate it or whatever....

Didn't care much for OGAM, but I did like Babylon 5. For that matter I also thoroughly enjoyed Star Wrek.

Maybe I've finally gone cray?:alienblush:
