White is ok

Straight is ok

Male is ok

All 3 combined is the WORST, a combination of 2 is iffy, only 1 is fine
Thank god for Ignore button!

I'm not going to trawl the board for quotes there's plenty around if you have two eyes (or even one or dictation software), and I am very busy writing a thesis on women's portrayal in commercials and why it needs to change.

People are angry and upset that a white man who isn't the villain in this series is in it.

Many of my friends are activists and all we want is everyone to be treated equally and that means no more white men on TV thankyou.
What the everliving fuck is going on with this bizarre strawman trolling?

IDK.....looks uninformed.
"The show being awfully white" wasn't my complaint. I said I read(!) it here in the forums. And I can kinda' see where they're coming from, because most of the important people shown in the trailer (including most of the Romulans) were white. We simply didn't get a good look at Picards new (multi-racial) "crew" yet. That's the one point I'm willing to give Infern0.

Jesus fucking Christ:rolleyes:

I'll defend you for writing your thesis. But don't believe for a second I think you're the person to write a thesis about gender depiction (especially women in media) that's worth the paper it was written on...

Listen, once straight white males go through a few hundred years of social opression like every other social group I'll be cool with them. Until then they are bottom of my list.

WHAT?
I said I don't have a problem with the combination of white, straight, male being considered the WORST and now you're accusing me of white privilege?

Do you even know what side of the argument you're on? Because I sure as hell don't know which side you're arguing.
I think they're being a strawman pretend-feminist in order to ridicule the inclusiveness.

Well you wouldn't you have all the privilege. How's life on easy mode? Must be nice.
While I do not deny the existence of white privilege, we don’t all benefit from it. If you’re writing a thesis and you’re under 40 then I think you may have it pretty good yourself.

Oh I don't know about that, several mental disorders from childhood abuse bit otherwise holding up

Can we please just move on from any kind of PC crap in a thread about a Caucasian Male Actor that may or may not be included in one of the new Trek shows.
Both sides are waaay overly sensitive and it goes nowhere but downward all the time around here.

I was at the Picardo talk.. pretty good! He did it with Walter Keonig, Nicole DeBoear and Shazid Latif.....
I can't remember how teh subject came up, but he said his agent was contacted about the Picard series. He didn't say who he would play... someone asked him about technology to de-age him and he started to talk abobe how how his charater could programme himself to give the appearance of aging... and of course he could be playing the role of Zimmerman who is in teh same time frame as Picard anyway, which woudl be much cheaper to shoot! He said the Producers woudl listen if people started bomarding them with requests! Here's a picture of him at the panel.... He left at bang on 7PM to see a play, which I suspect was the Marina Sirtis one, which I was tempted to get for myself, but thought no way could I get the tube to the theatre in 45mins. Bet Picardo was in a taxi! :)

I could see the Doctor intentionally aging himself in order to keep up with his friends and people he’s around by then. He wanted to be more human, an appearance of aging would be part of it even if only cosmetic.

Data himself had that awkward streak of grey hair in All Good Things just to be like other humans.
