Robert Justman, RIP

RIP. Always enjoyed his candor in interviews. Loved reading his witty memos that have been included in behind-the-scenes books.

May 2008 has not been kind to the founders of Star Trek.

Sir Rhosis

This has affected me more than I thought it would. In all the interviews, and in the books I read - he seemed like such a great guy.

A sad week.

:(

Wow, I didn't expect that. Robert Justman was one of the good souls of Star Trek. Rest in peace, Sir. :(

What the hell? Is there a sudden Klingon jihad against the Trek production crew?!

:(

Ahh, no. :( This is just too sad.

Thank you for all of your years of service to Trek, Mr. Justman.

Just damn. Pevney, Courage, now Justman. I'm glad to seen this month behind us.

Robert Justman's contributions to the show were invaluable. Without them, what made it to the screen would have been something less. I've often wished he had a shot at running the show's third season in place of Freiberger. While not fitting the "creative" producer mold GR wanted in that slot, I think he'd have done well.

R.I.P., sir.

Godspeed, Mr. Justman.
May the stars that first beckoned you, welcome you home. :(

I may have to pop in the audio version of Inside Star Trek with both his and Herb Solow's own readings. :(

My favorite anecdote from that book was Lucille Ball's lack of even the slightest grasp of Star Trek...SHE was under the impression it was about USO performers in the South Pacific theater of WWII! The famous pitch of "Wagon Train to the stars" makes a certain amount of sense now!

Given that it's Lucille Ball we're talking about, I kind of wonder if she was pulling a fast one on Herb Solow by pretending to think that was what the show was about.

:(

RIP to a great man who impacted us all with his work and the passion and drive he brought to it.

This is terrible news. Ever since I got hold of "The Making of Star Trek" in my youth, Mr. Justman has always been a favorite for his witty and irreverent style. His book was a real winner, too. Very impressive guy.

This is too many in too short a time. I've changed my avatar to reflect this...

He lived a long life, but this is still quite a blow. I've read a lot of his writing, and every bit of it is some of the most honest and frank writing about Hollywood that's been printed. He'll be missed. :(
