as a kid i was fascinated by the artwork on the cover, its what got me interested in ERB and REH in the first place. i have most of the Conan/Frazetta stuff and a lot of the ERB/Frazetta stuff. i only have reading copies of a few books though.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

Now I bought a conan book the a week back have yet to start cause I am not sure which stories are in it.

conan the cimmerian: The complete tales (trilogus classics)

now I was wondering if any one has read this and they knew what stories are in it.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

I'm confused. If you bought the book, can't you just look at it to see what stories are included?

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

now this will begin my list for reading conan I am going to start with the three omnibus's which came out in 2003 - 2005 and I believe they have all the robert e howard conan novels:

2) conan of cimeria: The Bloody Crown
3) conan of cimeria: The Conquering sword of conan

this is just the begining. and, I so can't wait till the new movie comes out.
all so I will be adding marvel and dark horse graphic novels.

all so a new development HUB is now play conan the adventure the animated series.

I plan to get the that one and the other two books in that trilogy. the one I got seems to be de camp stories.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

this is one of my favorite series by burroughs and here is my reading list for john carter of mars:

a Princess of mars
the gods of mars
the warlord of mars
Thuvia maid of mars
The chessmen of mars
The master mind of mars
a fighting man of mars
sword of mars
synthetic men of mars
LIana of gathol
John carter of mars

and here are two that were written by his son

john carter and the giant of mars
skeleton men of Jupiter

now last two I have never read and are the hardest to find and I am hoping soon
that all the books will be in e form.

well the good news is all but john carter of mars is aviable on the nook. which is fantastic the only bad thing is it's none of the frazetta books.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

picked up the entire series except john carter of mars, on my nook all for under 20.
all so picked up warlord of mars comic series by dynamite press # 1- 6 and deja thoris # 1-3. am I up to date on these titles.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

Rather bad and confusing John Carter movie poster. Is that supposed to be JC in the poster? He looks more like one of the aliens! :p

(And as for Harry Potter, that kid just can't look "bad-ass" - poor strategy to make him try.)

I agree on both counts bad posters but at least we have a movie date now. so thanks for the link and here's hoping the movie is better than the poster.

get you're ass to mars....

I first came to Conan through the Lancer editions, as did most people. However, I would suggest that any readers now first coming to the series stick to Howard's originals, as they are readily availible in many trade paperback editions (as much of Howard's work is now in the public domain).

I read the first Lancer compilation under the impression that it was all Howard's work, and not knowing that it consisted mostly of pastiches by L. Sprague DeCamp and Lin Carter. There were seven or eight stories in that first volume. When I finished it, I said to myself, well two of the stories in that book were awesome, but the others were kinda lame. Guess this Howard fella wasn't all he's cracked up to be." Later on, of course, I learned that the two stories I liked were the only two original Howard stories in that first volume.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

There was a recent remake of "The Land That Time Forgot."

Sir Rhosis

It was terrible. I watched the first 1/2 hour and had to stop. Same with a recent John Carter of Mars movie starring Antonio Sabado(sp?). Awful!

I still have all my Conan books from the ACE ones in the mid/late 70s through and including all of these. The quality of writing/story and characterization of Conan varies, but most of them were decent reads.

yeah, terrible poster. since the actor playing John Carter is relatively unknown you'd think they could at least tease us with a Martian or something.

Re: Robert e Howard,Edgar rice Burroughs & H.P.lovecraft comics & book

who is playing deja thoris?
