Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Kirk?

Re: Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Ki

My BS-o-meter went to the roof...
Rumor, no less.

Re: Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Ki

No, he won't. He would have been a horrible choice anyway. Charismatic? From what I understand, he's quite the egotistical jerk.

From what you hear? So you're not familiar with his oeuvre then. Off the top of my head I would say that most solo performers have large egos.

Arrrgh!! Even if this wasn't true it still scared me... :( Robbie Williams as Kirk? That would be my worst nightmare...

*shrugs* I try not to listen to a lot of pop music. Yes, I've heard some of his music. "Millennium" sucks. The video's worse. Its three and a half minutes of close-ups of Robbie Williams trying to play James Bond (badly, I might add) and hot chicks. The video would be much better if it were just the hot chicks but it wouldn't change the fact that the song sucks.

I'm sure I've heard more of Williams but I usually try to ignore it.

'kay. I'm not a fan myself but I do recognise that he's a kind of national treasure. I wouldn't watch him acting in anything but from experience I would say that this rumour was a practical joke, which went rather well, by the look of things.

And that's different from Shatner, how? :D

Re: Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Ki

Never mind his unproven acting ability, can RW even do a convincing American accent? Never mind -- the girning gimp's presence on the big screen alone would kill my interest in seeing this film. I suspect they'd have to do a lot of CGI airbrushing to digitally remove any sign or his tattoos when his shirt gets ripped. One thing he does have in common with the Shat is a tendency to run to fat.

Re: Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Ki

Well, I thought he was hilarious in "Mrs. Doubtfire," but Captain Kirk? He did play Mork, so maybe....

Re: Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Ki

This page is well worth reading for the bitching alone! And I have to agree with it!

Re: Robbie Williams in final negotiations to play Captain Ki

i don't know if the rumour's true or not - hence the question mark in the title - but it's gonna have to be a "large personality" to fit the shat's beltsize. none of the actors mentioned on this site (apart from that bloke who played pacey in dawson's creek) fit the shat man's boots.

Shatner can act. ;)

You forgot to add the word "over" in that sentence.

:guffaw:

Okay. Shatner can act, which places him over and above you in the usefulness stakes. Happy now?

Oh, and Robbie gets linked to roles like this regularly for some inexplicable reason. Anakin Skywalker, James Bond, Superman. All total BS.

I don't think they mean *Robin* Williams... :borg:

(BTW, Robin Williams was almost in a TNG episode. But the role he would have played, eventually went to Matt Frewer)

I wouldn't call him a national treasure, he's all but washed up, isn't he? Other than the occasional concert on Channel 4...
