I like the idea of Robau dying at the beginning of every movie. Each film can start with a different ship coming through an anomaly, bringing him on board and showing him holograms of each of the different surviving original series cast members. One film can have Ferengi looking for Sulu. Another could have Cardassians hunting down Uhura, Andorians chasing Chekov, and hell, even the Shat can finally get in on the action evading vengeful Klingons. There's four Hollywood quality sequel ideas right there.

^^Then they can impale Robau with a variety of different pointy objects. Cardassians with one of those phaser rifles, Ferengi with a Grand Nagus staff, etc.
