Spoilers Rob Zombie's Munsters Remake

I thought this had a thread here, but no luck finding it.

IDK what you all thought of Rob's Halloween movies. I personally loved his original gore-fest (House Of 1000 Corpses, Devil's Rejects and 3 From Hell which I have yet to get hold of) and The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto.

Now Rob is doing up The Munsters, apparently as a film.

...and in the latest casting news

Do we think Rob can pull this off?

I need a trailer for this one. Is he going for a comedy which is way out of his wheelhouse or is this like the Blumhouse Fantasy Island where they’ll make the property into actual horror? I just don’t know what this’ll be.

Yeah, if it's a comedy instead of a straight horror, I might be interested. Especially with that special casting.

Otherwise, hard pass even with that casting.

I feel like Rob could do comedy + horror as well as anyone, based in Suberbeasto.

It'll be interesting, whatever else.

That is interesting casting. I've never liked The Munsters (I'm an Addams Family guy, personally), so I don't have any real connection to this. At bare minimum it will probably be interesting, but with Zombie's track record it will probably also be really bad, just not in a boring way.

I don't like super violent, gory horror, so I've never seen any of his stuff, but I would be interested if he tones that down, and goes for something closer in tone to the original show.

Zombie movies are a mixed bag for me. I love his style of filmmaking, but can't stand his writing. His characters are always white trash who curse constantly and have crude humor. It worked fine for House of 1000 corpses and Devils Rejects, but not so much for Halloween. He uses the same actors in every movie including his wife, who is not a good actress and, no surprise, is playing Mrs. Munster. It's like watching a bad theater troupe perform over and over again.

Nice to know. Now that really has me curious, since that implies this will be a very different style from Zombie's usual movies.

I'm not sold on Herman from that teaser, that looks like a guy doing charades or something, maybe I'm just overly familiar with Fred Gwynne's take.
