Rise Like Lions - A Mirror Universe saga

One small bit of news...

David spoke at FedCon this weekend, and he told us that there is going to be a kind of Donald Duck/Gladstone Gander thing in Rise Like Lions. Smiley O'Brien and his crew are going to be the unluckiest crew ever, encountering one catastrophe after another, while for Mirror Calhoun & Co. everything that can go right will do so absolutely perfectly.
Very cool. I can't wait.

This is gonna be awesome. I hope this is actually the end of the mirror universe line though. Let's wrap it up with a nice little bow on it.

I wonder what MU Ezri is up to. Perhaps she'll be a kind ot "Dirty Harry," constantly pushing the limits and driving Smiley and MU Bashir nuts with her crossing the line....

I don't know if I should post it or not, but I did find the early cover and description in the Pocket catalog. I don't know how accurate it is but
it does say that this will be the end of the Alliance.

^ Well, not technically...

AFAIK, the last time we see mirror Bashir, he is being tortured on a Klingon vessel. He is not actually dead yet.

Hmm....

I wonder...it would be interesting if:

MU Ezri saves MU Bashir's rear from the Klingons, complete with a snide, "Still think I'm a 'Worthless piece of space trash'?"

Allow me to ask another stupid question: Is this new tale set after or before "Saturn's Children"?

^ Guys, stop posting story ideas. Not that there's any risk of them showing up in Rise Like Lions, which is already finished — I just don't want you to set yourselves up for disappointment. ;)

^ I'm fairly sure this is intended to be the finale.
The culmination of Spock's grand plan - Memory Omega, intended to bring about the fall of the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance. Whether this will bring about the restoration of the Terran Empire, is another story. We'll just have to wait and see about that one. ST:Online flat-out states that the Empire is restored, but I doubt the novels will do this.

^IIRC, it doesn't. Mr Mack said that during the hoo-hah over the guy on memory beta who insists that STO is THE future of Trek because it's set the furthest forward.

I doubt it. The entire point of Spock's plan was to bring about an end to the Empire and to the other imperial regimes that surrounded it, to end both the internal and external conditions that produced the authoritarianism of the Terran Empire and its neighbors. "The fall of my empire will be the end of yours."

^ That bears no semblance to the actual final cover. And Sci is spot-on in post #112 regarding the intentions of the rebellion and Memory Omega.

I'm not sure if this has been posted previously in this thread, but the solication cover for Rise Like Lions has been released. I wouldn't mind if the cover stays the same for the final novel. It has two of my favorite characters on it.

I hope they don't go with this one. It looks more like the Myriad Universe covers than the Mirror Universe covers. It REALLY looks a lot like the last Myriad Universe book, Shattered Light and I really didn't care for it. Something about the colors that were used I just didn't care for.

Still, as much as I love the covers for Trek titles, the story is what I'll be buying this one for and I'm betting that it is going to be awesome. I can't wait for this one and the upcoming Vanguard titles.

Can't say I approve of the cover either. Especially the presence of Martok and Dukat. Those characters will certainly not be 'rising' (I can only assume the Terran Rebellion will be), so why are they on the cover? :p

So I just found this thread and blasted through it. Thoughts as follows:

WooHoo!
OH, Man.... :(
WOOHOO!!!
"I hate Ayn Rand..."
WOOHOOO!!!!! I am so buying the f*** out of this book. :D
