RIP Leonard Nimoy

Don't know if this has been posted yet but I liked it...

RIP Leonard Nimoy.

I feel like I lost an old friend or uncle. I mean I felt bad when DeForrest Kelly (Bones) and James Doohan (Scotty) passed away, but Nimoy going just hits so much harder.

Some celebrity deaths of famous people you never met or knew are completely shocking (Robin Williams suicide), but the ones that still linger with you are the ones that make you realize these people made a large impact on your life through the entertainment medium they were in. It's a day after Nimoy's passing and I'm still moved and upset about it.

Yes, that was shocking! I would never have imagined.

RIP Leonard. I have so many great memories watching his work. He was very nice when I briefly met him in 2010. He'll be missed.

I thought for a moment that I was going to cry when my wife told me Nimoy had passed. The man has been such a huge part of my life and the world feels a little less vibrant now.

Whatever the next adventure is, enjoy it to the fullest Mr. Nimoy.

This is shallow for me to say, but it's still said out of appreciation: I really liked the long, shaggy hair that he sported over the past few years, especially if he parted it to the side. It made him look really cool and dashing and hip -- and this is the guy who was one of the factors that eventually made being a nerd cool, or at least acceptable in the mainstream.

But then again, Leonard Nimoy's always been cool. Even that Bilbo Baggins music video had him surrounded by really pretty women.

Another end of an era milestone. R.I.P. Leonard, and thank you for the very thoughtful entertainment you gave us and especially for being yourself.

There were two tributes featured in my local newspaper this morning. One of them was about how the town of Vulcan is devasted due to his passing. Apparently he visited Vulcan in 2010 and continued to be involved with the town long after he left. How sweet of him.
