This is such sad news. I heard about it on the local noon TV newscast, and I was just floored. RIP Mr. Nimoy.

I can't quite get my head around how sad I am. I think, while I always wanted to be Captain Kirk - confident, commanding, resilient - I deeply identified with Spock - conflicted outsider struggling to grasp these complicated beings around me and finally coming to find out what matters most: connection.
And Leonard Nimoy, far beyond Spock, was an influence all my life, from Star Trek, to In Search Of.., to his really remarkable photographs (his book Shekhina reveals him to be a talented photographer, a keen and brave commentator on Judaism, as well as a true feminist) and his thoughtful, spiritual approach to art and life.
I can't quite get my head around how sad I am. Really not sad. I was prepared for it. I tweeted him a love message the other day. He blessed millions of people's lives and lived a full one himself. May we go and do likewise in our own ways. Thanks again to Mr. Nimoy and the logos of the universe in whom we live and move and have our being, to whom Mr. Nimoy was clearly responsive.
He lived long, and he prospered.

I have Shekhina, which is a remarkable book, and I remember taking it to get signed by him when I attended the Chicago convention back in 2010. Unfortunately, he had a visit to the hospital and couldn't attend, but I always thought there would be plenty of time to get his autograph for that work I found so inspiring on a spiritual and emotional level.
Unfortunately, I was never able to get that chance, and now he's gone. It's not so much the signature, though, really, it's that I wanted to meet him, to see the man who was so much of my childhood, and while I identified more with McCoy, Spock's calming, rational presence had a profound effect upon me as a child, and his influence was one of the reasons I was inspired by the sciences.
He will be greatly missed.
Zikhrono livrakha - may the memories of him be a blessing.Very sad, but it makes me grateful that I saw him give a lecture once. Besides his talents as an actor, photographer, and poet, his portrayal of Spock gave hope to all those who can never fit completely into society, like myself.
R.I.P. Now I feel like I should give TOS another chance.

I feel like I lost a member of my family. Flags should be at half-mast. National, no forget that, world-wide day of mourning. How to you repay someone who has given so much? The world was a better place because he was here...there aren't too many people we can say that about.
