RIP Jon Polito

Too bad, I always liked him going back to Miller's Crossing. Very versatile and memorable.

That's two Big Lebowski actors in a month, David Huddleston died in early August.

Big Homicide fan. I only learned after his real death the reason Crosetti was written off the show and later killed. http://legendsrevealed.com/entertai...racter-killed-on-homicide-life-on-the-street/

NBC wanted to have a more gender diverse cast. So the producers were forced to write him out. Producer Tom Fontana promised Polito that after all that passed eventually Crosetti would be brought back. But Joe Polito did not believe him and decided to bad mouth him in the press. Fontana was really pissed and decided to have Crosetti commit suicide off camera. Which explains why Crosetti was away for so long before his death. If that was the orignal plan his death would have happened sooner.

It's a sad irony that Nipote is the first Homicide regular cast member to die on the show and real life. Regardless of how it came about off camera that episode in which it was revealed he died was one of the most powerful in the show's history.
