RIP Harry Harrison

The sci-fi author who gave us The Stainless Steel Rat has died at the age of 87

Always loved his work and still own a very dogeared copy of Spaceship Medic which is one of the earliest books I can ever remember reading.

Very sad to hear it. I worked with Harry on several projects, including "The Hammer and the Cross" trilogy and always found him a pleasure to work with. And "Deathworld" is a great book as well.

The "Stainless Steel Rat" series was a favorite of mine when I was a teen.

He will be missed.

The Stainless Steel Rat is one of those properties that's been optioned and in development forever, but has yet to actually make it to the screen. I'm not sure who has the rights these days.

Hollywood knows about it. They just haven't gotten around to making it yet.

The fantasy ending was a downer, but this was a fascinating read.
