RIP Estelle Getty

Golden Girls was a hilarious show.

Each of the women had their own style of stories to tell.

Blanche had a stories about former lovers.

Sofia had her "picture this" stories.

Rose had her St. Olaf stories.

Not sure what stories Dorothy specialized in. Probably her ones about how bad her ex husband Stanley was.

I for one was quite fond of Stanley.

I half expected to see a string of pictures of Estelle in your post the minute I saw you were the last person to post.

Yer lettin me down, Rich! :(

Really?!?

Damn that's a shame. I loved Golden Girls, and a big part of that was down to Estelle Getty. She's been ill for a long time now so at least it's a release for her.

RIP :(

Picture it:
Heaven, July 2008... laughter abounds.
Very well put.

This is such sad news, but at the same time it's hard to feel too sad; dementia is a ghastly thing, and there'll always be the hours of hilarity she gave us.

Requiescat in pace, Ms. Getty.

I was lucky enough to see Estelle Getty on stage in "Torch Song Trilogy." She was hilarious, brilliant and achieved the impossible by stealing scenes from Harvey Fierstein.

RIP :(

Sophia: You're old, you sag, get over it.
Blanche: I'm sorry. I thought since you looked like Yoda, you were also wise.

:guffaw:

Thanks for all the laughs, Sophia.

I was under the mistaken impression that she'd already passed away, but I guess I had in fact just assumed so since I hadn't seen her make any appearances with the other "Girls" in a very long time.

Sorry to hear that she passed, but honestly I'm more sorry to hear that she had Dementia in her last few years. My grandmother had the same condition and it's one of the worst ways to go. You die a little bit everyday and it can be hell on the family.

My prayers and considerations to them.

Heck of a woman.
