RIP Clive Cussler - 1931 to 2020

Kirby

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I just heard that he passed away on Monday, February 24th. :(
I was a big fan of his books since I was in junior high school. RIP Mr. Cussler, and thank you for all that you gave us!

I just got a good head start reading Plague Ship. It's only the second book of his that I've read and both are Oregon Files books.

It's a shame he's gone. RIP, Mr. Cussler. :weep:

I would rent and later buy his audiobooks to listen on long road trips. I looked forward to the drives to and fro. I will miss his stories. RIP, Clive. :weep:

I wonder if his son will continue them? He had been co-authoring the Dirk Pitt series since Black Wind (2004) and the four other series (The NUMA Files, The Oregon Files, Isaac Bell Adventures, and Fargo Adventures) were all written with other authors.

His real life almost parallels Pitt's in his love of old cars and looking for shipwrecks.

Too bad the movie adaptions sucked.

I strongly suspect that his son and the others have been doing the bulk of the work for a while.

I actually did enjoy Sahara as a movie.

Yeah, Clive was almost 89 years old. I assume that he probably helped outline some of the stories, but his son, and the other authors probably did the heavy lifting.
For Clive, I’m ok with that. They’re still fun stories that pretty much capture his voice.
