RIP Amy Winehouse

I don't wish death on anyone.

But after I sat in my Uncle's hospital room and watch a neurologist essentially declare him brain dead from multiple seizures (which had been an issue since age six due to an accident) yesterday, I have little sympathy for someone who simply couldn't control herself.

It might be cold, but that's the way I feel.

^ Yeah, I gotta agree on that one. While don't wish death upon anyone, she sorta had it coming. Digging her own grave like that. This tragic death was more or less a suicide. The way she was doing drugs and booze, I'm honestly surprised she lasted this long.

Nonetheless, Rest in peace.

Drugged up smackhead.

This. An awful lot of people die daily, and the tragedy in Norway is foremost in everyones thoughts. Some 27 year old whore suffocates because her crack habit rotted her lungs? big deal.

Good grief, how cold-hearted this is! Yes, people die daily. It's not a competition! It's possible to be sad about multiple tragedies.

Is this really a tragedy? Is every person that died yesterday a tragedy? If so, why aren't you starting threads for them?

Yes. It is a tragedy. Winehouse's death just happens to be publicised due to her being in the public eye, so we know about her death and therefore start one on it.

With the hundreds, thousands of people who die every day, it isn't possible to start threads for them, so we do when we either knew the deceased personally (like a family member) or if it's someone who's in the public eye.

Yeah, I don't see what's so confusing here. It's not realistic or practical to start threads for every person that dies. It's also not possible to know about every death.

Sadly her passing is not the least bit surprising, but it's still a shame that her personal demons finally caught up and got the best of her. Such a waste of talent. Rest in peace. :(

I'm sad. But really, it's a case of "it's your own fault" in play. DRUGS WILL KILL YOU has been written in big bold letters for a long time. People have been treating it in this case like a natural disaster that's virtually impossible to avoid.

So in the end, I'm sad, but not as sad as I am for the nigh-on 100 dead Norwegians. And it's disgusting that Amy is inevitably going to get more coverage.

I just thought "tragedy" may be a little too strong here. But if every death is considered a tragedy then so be it.

No, I see your point. I couldn't really think of a better word. And really, I suppose I think losing anyone to addiction is a tragedy, because it's such a devastating thing to watch.

Devastating indeed. Especially if you did your best and he/she still ended up dead. Although in hindsight, its easy to realize what you could've done differently...

Yeah, I gotta admit, I'm surprised at the general apathy both here and in TNZ but I'm really disgusted by some of the comments and attitudes some people have been displaying since the news of Winehouse's passing.

And while I also understand that there other tragedies occurring (Oslo; US troops being killed in action), I'm kind of amazed at how some of you are interpreting the expression of condolences and sympathy toward Amy Winehouse's death as somehow detracting from the Oslo tragedy or any US troops being killed. One has nothing to do with the other.

As for those who are actually celebrating/saying she "deserved" to die, well, that's just fucked up.
