Rian Johnson trilogy canceled

They’ve released four movies, three of which have went over a billion dollars. Only in Bizarro world is that a “sorry” state.
Big numbers certainly. They've more than made their investment back.

Quality wise TFA is imho way worse than the prequels and I suspect Ep.IX will be similar, although I really hope not.

Solo was so-so and although I liked Rogue One it's The Last Jedi that gave me hope with Johnson down for a new trilogy.

And quality is subjective. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

what do you mean. The Disney SW ruined three trilogies and split the fanbase and SW is in a sorry state right now. Him and maw all you want but that is what is happening.

I just heard they got Glover to play Lando ina new show.. because they have no ideas

In what sense is it in a sorry state?

Quality and taste is in the eye of the beholder. I've liked both of the sequel trilogy films thus far.

I'm the opposite, really liking Solo and just not liking Rogue One even a little bit.

There is a silliness to calling the Disney run a failure like some folks do, projecting their personal feelings onto the films. People are still showing up for these movies, and may have shown up for Solo (We're calling $393 million "not showing up". Let that sink in for a moment.), if not for the behind-the-scenes drama and poor choice in release date.

I have to agree here, it's very difficult to equate to an argument which presents a personal response to a piece of art as an objective statement.

That's pretty much what it is. It's basically become an extremely loose definition of "failure" in order to justify continued hatred.

except that.. the line graph is going downward. They blew their load by targeting a huge first film.. and ever since the trajectory has gone downward.. .. and the last film they made lost money.

Now I don't care for the MCU all that much.. but Iron man was not a billion dollar film.. they actually built to end game.. which made a shit ton of money.

But with SW the trajectory was a steady decline.

When the trajectory is going down would you consider it a success to eba complete misunderstanding of how good something is doing

Five movies by the end of December, many of them quite successful financially
Cartoons, a live action TV show about to drop, two more coming. Comics, books.

If this is a "sorry" state, sign me up.

Personally I either like a movie or not. If I intellectualise it it's about trying to learn from any questions or themes raised (if any), not vent about it for months and years as though it was the root of all evil.

Also true for me.
The thing is: I don't wrap myself personally in the success or failure of a franchise. My life isn't dependent on how a movie does or a series of movies. I think that's fucked up.

Sure.. i honestly just find it interesting.
They are courting Glover as Lando again.. they have no creative future.
Cassian Andor Gets a series (who really cares about him, of all the people that remember who he is)
The Rian Johnson trilogy was announced in November 2017, and was going to go beyond the legacy characters, and it's clearly not going to happen at all now.
In February of 2018, the B & W trilogy was announced, but that's not happening either.
The last last jedi made less than half of the previous episodic installment, and divided the fanbase
the last Star Wars film actually lost money at the box office, because in part of the how the Last Jedi split the fanbase, and in part because no one wanted a film about a young Han solo.
Even Bob Iger admits many mistakes were made with Star Wars, and clearly is speaking on them (but won't let the actual president of Lucasfilm talk at all and would rather speak himself).
And I'll admit the Mandalorian looks intriguing but is also an interesting diversionary tactic that won't cover the sins of TROS when people see it and see how big of a mess that film is.
Yet everyone here is like.. "oh SW is perfectly fine).
It's like Private Snafu (situation normal.. all fucked up)
Oh should I remind you that when the shills like Campea want KK out that tells you something

This isn't healthy, it really isn't.

oh stop it now.. you have no right to judge me and i have not tried to judge you

You did really, when you called me "dence". I'm happy to let that go, but you are fixating on this and not helping yourself.
