rewatching Voyager

Saga

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
while i wouldn't call myself a 'hater' i never cared for Voyager as much as the other shows. i watched pretty faithfully though, till about the 6th season. now that i have a lot of time on my hands i sat down and started watching Voyager with season 1. i have to say, most of the episodes held up better than i remember.

right now i'm in the middle of season 5. have to say that since Seven joined i noticed a lack of http://trekbbs.com/en/wiki/ChakotayChakotay centered episodes. i still don't care for Harry Kim though.

Glad to hear that you as well have found Voyager later on.

I watched a lot of season 1 yesterday and there are lots of wonderful episodes in it. "Old skool" Voyager rarely gets the praise it deserves. :)

It may be shallow to admit it, but one thing that helps Voyager hold up over time is the production. I mean, you can be going through your sci-fi DVD/video collection, watching this or that Cable sci-fi show, and then pop in a Voyager episode and the difference is like night and day.

^Yeah. Equinox survivors should have been included in the later episodes, most definitely. I would have love to see more of them. Anything, but those two Fair Haven episodes, which were total waste of time.

Blame that on the "Money, money, money" attitude of UPN and Paramount at the time. They wanted cash and were really conservative, even reactionary, in how they wanted VOY to do it. That means little to no recurring characters and the like.

lol, i just watched the first Fair Haven episode. while it was nice for Janeway to see Janeway get involved with someone...meh. why does everyone always seem to fall for a hologram?

Same reason the holodeck always tries to kill people. Just an easily reusable plot device. And for some reason, TNG and VOY especially, people frickin' love using those devices.

I'm able to catch Season 5 now Spike TV. It's been nice to see it again. It's been a while.

I'm surprised at how much better it holds up than TNG. I used to love TNG the best, but now I like Voyager and Enterprise better.

I love the episode "Timeless". It showed Harry changing from an eager ensign, to a grief stricken man obsessed with changing the past.

I watched every episode when the show first came out but I rarely find myself watching the reruns when they are on. When I do sit and watch one I do enjoy it but like the Next Generation I have not found it in myself yet to buy the DVD's. I have the original Star Trek and DS9 on DVD and watch them frequently.

Praetor_Shinzon, I certainly agree with you about Harry. If it weren't for Seven and the Doctor, I probably wouldn't be rewatching Voyager now as well.

I don't have time to watch all of them, and I don't mean to derail your thread, but can I get some advice from everyone? I wanted to rewatch some ship/ship combat heavy Voy eps (something I always felt Voyager did very well). Any suggestions? I just started with Scorpion I-II. Really great stuff.

Don't have the time? Just watch one a weekend. Chances are, you're going to be alive for the next seven years. You have plenty of time.

UM?

You turn on the subtitles...

Okay, then get the dvds.

You turn on the subtitles, and then just push the fast forward button till it says Speed x16, unless you can read faster than I?

It's the only way to watch Gladiator.

But that's how you watch 7 seasons of Voyager in one afternoon.

But you'll need one of those Malcolm McDowel eye lid keeper open rigs afitted to your beer cap, or you might accidentally miss a couple episodes while blinking.

finally finished Voyager. didn't care for 'Unimatrix Zero'. just meh. 'Author, Author' had me lol several times. the final episode was pretty good. have to say that the Chakotay/Seven romance...ugh. that was worse than Worf/Troi.

I didn't like Unimatrix Zero either. Meh indeed. Author, Author - first half was funny as heck, but once the second half began to rip of TNG like no other episode ever had before that, I lost interest.

I have so many dislikes in Endshame that I won't even list them here. C/7 is quite high on that list.

I am also watching voyoger. I have just seen "Parturition" Season 2 Ep 7 and saw something odd.

There is a scene where Tom is doing a shuttle training session with Kes in the holodeck, then there is a brief shot of Dominion attack ships attacking the shuttle.
