Rewatching Babylon 5- So is it really any good?

"And the sky full of stars" is definitely a first season highlight. A very focused and intense show. O'Hare really pulls it off very well and the guests are great.

Anybody play Star Wars Jedi Knight? Take a look at who plays Jerec. :D

and the only reason I wasn't forced to fast forward was because of Peter Jurasik's acting; he's always in top form, isn't he? The man could make "A Night in Sickbay" watchable.

In defense of ANIS, that one is worth watching just to see Scott running around shirtless.

Now, I know that as a hetrosexual man, you wouldn't understand that, but I figured I'd just throw it in there.......

Fair enough, I love TNG "The Dauphin" due to me finding the girl who is the guest star as stunning.

I tolerate many bad episodes of TV shows for that very reason.

I want to have in my collection a parallel universe Babylon 5 series that has more seasons of Sinclair. I think it would be fascinating to see him deal with later events instead of Sheridan.

I'm with you. I'm not looking forward to the change over to Sheridan. I like Sinclair, his back story and his friendship with Garibaldi. He also has an epic voice.

So, after I got my DVDs in the mail in like seconds, I'm tearing through S4. I'm not looking forward to the end (having great taste in men and all), but guess it's too late to convince them to change the ending. :(

I'll be back this weekend with a review of Deathwalker. Actually, with a title like that, we need all caps. DEATHWALKER!

For those of you who watched this when the show originally aired was this episode a WHOA one?

Yes, indeed. This was the first truly memorable episode for me, not just because of Koenig but in general.

I never enjoyed B5 as much as, say, the best of TNG or nuBSG, but the show definitely had its excellent moments too.

And the Sky Full of Stars

Holy shit YES! This was superb in almost every way you can imagine. Michael O'Hare and Christopher Neame (who played the Knight that interrogated Sinclair) really knocked it out of the park. The back and forth dialogue was outstanding which is great as dialogue has been hit and miss at times so far during this show. Here, though, it crackled. Since B5 a number of television dramas have been talky like Mad Men, In Treatment and The West Wing but before those there wasn't much in the way of dialogue driven shows. I'm not saying B5 is but this episode certainly is which makes it standout when you consider it aired in 1993.

Grade: A

I'm glad to see that this episode has the same impact on others as it had (and still has for me). I hold it as extra special since this was the first episode of B5 I ever saw - and it truly knocked my socks off! (I had seen ads for B5 and intended to see it, but I was away at college with no TV access - so during a break/vacation I finally managed to catch an episode)

The epic opening sequence, the moody atmosphere, the music, the effects, the acting - it all clicked. I became an instant B5 fan after seeing this episode. The absolute contrast that this episode highlighted against ST:TNG (which I also liked) didn't hurt. This was much darker and grittier SF, which appealed greatly to me.
