More reveals from Entertainment Weekly. New transporter design.

Thats....interesting. Definitely different. But different is okay! Change is an essential part of life and so on.

Apparently this is aboard the Shenzhou, not the Discovery, so no confirmation on what the DSC transporter will look like.

I'm on the fence. I think I'll have stronger feelings either way once I see how the thing works.
I know the article makes a point of telling us that it's not the Discovery transporter but the Shenzhou. Not my favorite design element, but I'm still watching.

I like it! Weird and thus awesome.

Plus - body armour!

Oh yes, I am so down for that body armor. That I love.

The new transporters definitely are different. Kinda look like giant speakers. I dunno. Gonna withhold final judgment on this one until I see it in action. I feel like it'll go hard one way or the other for me. I'll either be like, "WTF? NO THANK YOU" or "Wow, how did I ever doubt them? YES PLEASE."

Remembering how I felt watching the Beyond trailer for the first time and balking at the use of Sabotage. Then actually saw the movie and it was one of my favorite scenes. So, you never know! Context is EVERYTHING.

While this isn't Discovery's transporter room, it will probably have a similar aesthetic since it is the same technology.

I like this one. It has the feel of being an early transporter that's approved to transport beings and not just cargo, quite a functional and industrial look, and I notice an echo of the TOS transporter background in the gold rectangular panels between the transporters.

The article does say that if you don't like this, that the Discovery's looks different.

Am hoping it's an alien tech piece....how would you stop it beaming the whole room out? Previous transporters always made a kind of sense.
That's what got me too. I mean, it's all fantasy and you have to suspend disbelief, but I also question why their boots aren't left on the floor after transport. Of course we can come up with any in-universe explanation, but a top and bottom construction made some intuitive sense.
