returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror Story

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

But it could prove a success as well, after all the second series won't require that people have watched the first, easy for new viewers at least.

I see what you mean about Tate/Violet, but I think it was less that she was ok with him being a murderer, than she thought it was something that he could be forgiven for an aberation rather than who he was, the rape storyline proved that he was just a psycho who couldn't ever be redeemed.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

What? No Frances Conroy? :( I really liked her as Moira.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

^I had that idea too but apparently they have other jobs now.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

They've been cast in pilots, but the odds are about 50/50 on any pilot being picked up...

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

Info on one the new cast members they're looking for:

No, they're not really trying to get Angelina Jolie to join the show.

The series regular character, Gia, is described as a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot who harbors a secret — “think Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted,” reads the casting notice. As such, interested actresses should be in their mid-20s and Caucasian.
Waddya think? Is this a job for Summer Glau? She still looks 25ish. Or Evan Rachel Wood, in their dreams.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

God no, not Summer Glau. I'd like this show to be around for more than two seasons, thanks.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

This show is made of teflon. They could hire 10,000 chimpanzees to write the script and we'd all watch it just to see Zach Quinto and Jessica Lange throw feces at each other. I hope that's not a spoiler but I'm 75% confident it is.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

Adam Levine in talks for AHS.

The Maroon 5 frontman and coach of The Voice is in talks, EW.com reports, to take on his first acting role and play one half of a couple referred to as “The Lovers” in the spooktacular drama’s sophomore run.
Never heard of him, but he's hot, so I approve. PS, he won't be Zach Quinto's lover since this season everyone is playing their opposite from last season, so I expect Quinto to be playing a Hugh Hefner type. :rommie: (Actually, Levine and Quinto could play brothers...)

You've never seen a Maroon 5 Music Video?

Yea, it would be pretty creepy if Quinto and Adam Levine played lovers, because they are very similar looking.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

New cast member for next season. I suspect she was cast for her resemblance to a young Angelina Jolie and will be playing a character very reminiscent of Gia - out of control mental patient and the nemesis of Jessica Lange's Big Nurse. :D

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

Finally, some concrete news as to show location (which is starting to get spoilery so I'll code it)...

It is, indeed, in an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange. :bolian:

Murphy added that Horror Story‘s second season will take place in “a completely different time period"...
I'm thinking, anytime between the 1930s and 1960s could work, so that things can be nice and barbaric...

Also, this article strongly implies that Quinto is playing one of the inmates (hooray!) :D

Since the theory here is for the returning actors to play their "polar opposites," that strongly implies that Evan Peters will be one of the doctors or an orderly, but definitely not a patient. Sarah Paulson, who played the self-serving psychic, will probably be a saintly nurse.

I wonder if this is going to confuse to many people?

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

I wouldn't be surprised if the second episode next season shows a big drop in viewers. The anthology format is unfamiliar and largely untested with a modern audience.

Bringing back the same actors is a risk of being even more confusing, but on balance, I think it's a risk they have to take - otherwise, there's no carry over from S1 other than the writing I guess, but that's hardly a draw. Gotta give viewers some reason to return, otherwise why not just do a whole new series and give it a new name?

Oh Quinto would be fab as that, hopefully Lange won't be too much the chiche'd nurse Ratchet type.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

It wrecked his plotline with Violet. She was apparently okay with him being a murdering psycho, but raping her mother was a bit too much. There was no need to wreck the plotline, except that the writers had no reason to be invested in it, or in any plotline. That just gives them leeway to wreck all the plotlines, rather than conclude them. Even a short story should be concluded, rather than wrecked. It's lazy.

There's really only two ways to conclude a horror story. The monster dies (or does it?), confirming that honest god-fearing humans can triumph against anything, or the protagonists all die, confirming that you shouldn't fuck with monsters.

As the Harmons did not see fit to obtain unlicensed nuclear accelerators (they really should have), there was only one way that it should end.

Why not, she was a cliched character in S1 - as written. It's just that she was so entertaining that she pulled it off, and masked the silliness of the writing. Overall, that does seem to be the show's philosophy - corny, over-the-top writing combined with outstanding actors who are so fun to watch, the writing doesn't seem so bad.

I thought the story was about the Harmons. It was supposed to conclude their story, and the ghosts were just a means of driving their story along. What you're describing is more appropriate to some brainless slasher flick for teenagers.

I was hoping for something a bit better than that, but now I know that's not what this series delivers. It delivers sloppy writing masked by over the top sensationalism and extremely entertaining actors. Fair enough, that beats a lot of the crap on TV.

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

Holy cats!!!

They got Chloe Sevigny!!!

Actress Chloe Sevigny (Zodiac, American Psycho) is the latest addition for season two, playing "Shelly the Nymphomaniac," a major antagonist to Jessica Lange's character.
If you haven't heard of her - she's an exceptional actress, the kind who could steal a scene right out from under even Lange or Quinto.

I may not be a fan of his writing but Ryan Murphy has the best casting sense of any showrunner I've ever seen. The cast for this season is officially insane. (How appropriate to the setting. :D)

Re: returning cast members and location hints for S2 American Horror S

Oh yes, she was a big player in HBO's Big Love and she a Nympho in this so whats not to love. :)
