The novel was better, there was a geater sense of battle tactics and a better use for the characters. The use of stock footage in the big battle was disappointing, the conclusion in the fire caves was just as diappointing. The montage at the end as nice, but the Dominion war should've ended sooner and we see some kind of afermath, as it was it seemed as though they were trying to fill a two hout time slot without much of a storyline.

I've always enjoyed "What You Leave Behind" as one of the better Trek finales. It's a fitting end on the ten-episode arc of the final season, but I do sometimes think they should have concluded the Dominion War in the prior episode. That way we could have seen some more of the fallout for Cardassia and the characters' departures from the station wouldn't have felt so rushed. To me the final battle between Sisko and Dukat should have been given prominence in the finale. The episode does have some of what I think are some of the best character moments of the series.

it was an excellent finally. Yes, it would have been nice for Bajor to join the Federation. Yes, it would have been nice if the producers and Farrell could have reached an accommodation so Worf could have flashbacks of Jadzia. I think it would have been a nice touch when Kira is walking through the bar after talking to Quark and before we saw Jake and Kira looking out the window, if we saw Morn in the background signing a padd and giving it to Quark to pay his tab and walked out.

Notwithstanding all that, they still did a fantastic job. If they didn't wrap up the Pah-Wraith plot, it would be a glaring hole. What would have happened to Winn and Ducat? And if the Dominion war ended prior to the last episode, the last episode would seem like an anticlimax.

Ideally a year or two after the end there would be a made for TV movie with Sisko reappearing in visions, seeing his baby, seeing Jake, Bajor joining the Federation. There would have to be other plot elements too. Hm. Maybe the Romulans discover the plot of In the Pale Moonlight?
