Resurrecting minor characters

I like Wesley, too. Not when he's a smartass though. I can't understand all the hate for the character. Don't tell anyone either. ;)

Interesting tidbit about Wheaton/Crusher from Wikipedia (take with a grain of salt):

"Although his character – and, by extension, Wheaton himself – was loudly hated by a large and vocal group of Trekkers during ST:TNG's first run (see Usenet groups alt.ensign.wesley.die.die.die or alt.wesley.crusher.die.die.die), Wheaton has explained that he was required to speak the lines written by others in the scripts and that he dislikes his Star Trek character. He did, however, enjoy working on the show and praises the other actors for their talent, especially Patrick Stewart."

Minor Characters to be resurrected:

Evie in "Mudd's Women" she had the smarts and guts to take over Rigel XII. She was no typical mail order bride.

The Klingon Trio: Kor, Koloth, and Kang. They've been novelized a lot. In one novel, one is B'Lanna Torres' maternal uncle. They had some reprises in DS9 episodes, but...it's still not enough.

I forth the nomination of Gary Seven and his assistant Roberta Lincoln.

The female Romulan Commander of TOS.

Vash in TNG and DS9.

Admiral Satie of TNG. As well as Admiral Nechayev. Starfleet Admirals are so unlikable and interesting.

Simon Tarses of TNG. Did he get thrown out of Star Fleet? After all his crime came to light by unlawful means. The Romulans would point him out as a poster boy of Federation hypocrisy.

Sela: What did she do during the Dominion War? She had a pathological hatred of the Federation which impaired her judgment. She probably was a proponent of making a deal with the Dominion, and hoping the Federation was destroyed by the War.

Tomalak: As interesting as the TOS Romulans.

Centurion Bochra: Now that he's seen that the Federation isn't weak or dishonorable what's in store? Of course the Romulan PTB might have made him drink the cyanide Kool-Aid.

There's no minor Character in VOY that grabs my attention.

That tough Lt. from The siege of AR-558 His would make a good career to follow. Make a good captain someday. It was Lieutenant Reese.

Mirasta Yale. Hannah Bates. Sito Jaxa (she doesn't HAVE to be dead. ;)) I'm sure there are many more, but those are the three that I think of first when asked this question.

Sam Levelle from TNG's "Lower Decks" was a nicely developed character for a one-off appearance. He could have been made recurring had the show not ended.

He makes a reappearance in the Dominion War novels, as one of the Starfleet officers captured by the Dominion during the war. Not sure if he made significant appearances in any other books.

How about the original Gorn captain from Arena? Would be interesting to see what happened to him after getting shot with the diamond cannon! -- RR

Some of the characters I've been fond of over the years who I'd like to have seen more of (and a couple who I'd be interested to see more of). I think some are more "minor" than others:

Gary Mitchell
Elizabeth Dehner
Ruth (from Shore Leave)
Janice Rand
Gem
Azetbur
Sam Lavelle
Sito Jaxa
Tom Riker
Alexana Devos (The High Ground)
Etana Jol (The Game)
Rachael Garrett
Vedek Bariel
Li Nalas

Also, I don't know the names of the characters, but a couple of old friends of Kira's come to visit her on the station and I think both are killed. A man and a woman who were her friends from the old days. I thought they were great characters.

There are more but those are the ones that spring to mind.

They were named Furel & Lupaza. They appeared in S3's "Shakaar" and S5's "The Darkness and the Light." Furel later appeared via flashbacks in S5's "Ties of Blood and Water".

I'm surprised we got no mention of a DS9 favorite one-time character-- Martha Hackett's Sub Commander T'Rul from "The Search". I always thought she should have stayed on board. Trek never really had much in the way of a Romulan recurring character. The most we ever had was a few instances of Tomalak and Picard glowering at one another over a viewscreen.

Bringing back Eliminator Lek and Yelgrun (Iggy Pop Vorta) would have been fun, too.

One that I can think of, who I'm surprised no one has mentioned already was 'Jean-Luc'/'Ethan' Barash (sp?) from the TNG episode "Future Imperfect", the alien child who creted those illusions for Riker so he could be his playmate (the 'Future Enterprise' and the Romulan base), and beamed up with Riker at the end of that episode. I always wondered what happened to him, and I thought he could appear in a potential fanfiction as an ensign. Anyone else agree?

Good suggestion, have a non humanoid recurring character!

Burke, the security officer from "Peak Performance" who ran tactical.
Did he have lines other than "Ferengi ship approaching"?
Quite a few, actually.
I was actually half-joking, M'Nitpick. :p Peak Performance is one of my favorite episodes of early TNG and of course I know that Burke has more lines. I just never saw him as that interesting a character. My statement was more or less a (not so funny) way to express that sentiment.

Thanks for that! No way I would have remember their names and tracking them down would have taken hours. I knew someone here would been better informed that I.

LeVelle might have made a good first officer for Picard when Riker got promoted.

The female Romulan Commander of TOS.

She's appeared in several novels, most particularly Diane Duane's Rihannsu series and the Vulcan's [blank] novels by Susan Shwartz and Josepha
Sherman

Admiral Satie of TNG. As well as Admiral Nechayev. Starfleet Admirals are so unlikable and interesting.

Nechayev's appeared in many novels, including the New Frontier series and the A Time To mini-series.

Simon Tarses of TNG. Did he get thrown out of Star Fleet? After all his crime came to light by unlawful means. The Romulans would point him out as a poster boy of Federation hypocrisy.

He's serving aboard DS9 in the post-finale fiction

Sela: What did she do during the Dominion War? She had a pathological hatred of the Federation which impaired her judgment. She probably was a proponent of making a deal with the Dominion, and hoping the Federation was destroyed by the War.

she's turned up in post-DW novels, particularly Double Helix: Double or Nothing and Death in Winter (set post NEM)

Tomalak: As interesting as the TOS Romulans.

IIRC, he appeared in Titan: Taking Wing

That tough Lt. from The siege of AR-558 His would make a good career to follow. Make a good captain someday. It was Lieutenant Reese.

he appeared in a story in the Tales of the Dominion War anthology, where he attempted to kill the Founder female.

Ensign Sonya Gomez.....she had the potential for hotness....

she's the first officer in the SCE/Corps of Engineers series.
