Huh, I didn't realize they were already doing a novel.

Edit: I was just looking around on Amazon, and Resistance is #20 on their scif bestsellers list.

They just started a Supernatural line as well with KRAD writing the first novel.
Yeah, I knew that. I'm actually planning on picking it up eventually.

I just finished reading Resistance a few days ago and dug up this thread to leave a bit of a review.

I really liked it! I think that so far the post-NEM TNG novels have had a good balance of familiar and new elements. The new characters are enjoyable, and while I was expecting Lio would be assimilated, I was surprised at the new security chief's apparent death as I expected her to be sticking around.

There's one issue I've really got to get off my chest though. The Borg Queen is vanquished forever by TESTOSTERONE?!?! This has to be one of the toughest to swallow plot points I've yet to see in any of the Trek novels. I think it would have been much more effective and believable had they left things with the Borg being permanently crippled after the virus future-Janeway introduced into the Collective. But now, the characters seem to be 100% certain that hormones will be effective in killing the Queen forever. So, I'm a bit disappointed with how this was carried out. It's almost as if the story creators weren't satisfied with leaving the Borg crippled from "Endgame" but wanted to do it themselves and chose a far more non-sensical way. I am, however, interested in seeing what state the Borg are in come "Before Dishonor".

Back on the positive side, T'Lana appears to be an interesting crew member even though she hasn't been presented in the most likeable fashion thus far. Quite obviously, there is going to be a bit of teenaged angst between her and Worf which looks like it's going to progress to an actual relationship. I'm actually a bit surprised that the people planning the direction for the new TNG novels even wanted to replace the role of counsellor as a major character since it's always been a somewhat odd role in the TNG series that doesn't seem to exist in the same manner anywhere else in the Trek universe. Anyway, I hope there will be some interesting character development to see with our TNG crew in the coming novels and am looking forward to Picard's next encounter with Q in Q & A!

Nemesis, in spite of its flaws, was about change. Death in Winter negated some of the best changes and substituted fannish changes in the place of actual dramatic changes.

"Fannish" changes? :wtf: [Read: Permit this BONCer to disagree. :( ]

However, I have read various reviews (even though I haven't read the book itself, alas), and I kinda get this feeling that the resolution was perhaps rushed, no?

So... You just resurrected a three week-old thread to disagree with a reviewer regarding a book you haven't read yet?
