ComingSoon has posted the trailer for the new Resident Evil Film.

ComingSoon:
The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City was ended with the eradication of the deadly virus by a missile attack ordered by the government. As its operations were suspended on a global scale, Umbrella Corporation stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. 7 years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States. An ordinary autumn afternoon. One zombie is unleashed into this peaceful scene to attack everyone. In the airport starting to fill up with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to be repeat itself...

Interesting little side-project, I thought at first this was the next in the live action series. I gotta say though that I think the original trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil 5 video game is more atmospheric and evocative. Still probably rent this for sure though.

^ The live action film franchise is over according to Sony. The continuation of the Resident Evil films will be in this format.

Was that Birkin in the trailer?

so i take it mila whats-her-name wont be in any more then?
oh well as long as this dosent go crap like final fantasy spirits within was, mind you i'd probaly still watch it any ways

From the quality of the CGI it looks like a 2-hour cutscene! :p Seriously though, I might catch this. I must admit I cheered when Leon introduced himself in the trailer. (And of course, there has to be a boss ;) )

Hm..odd that they'd say the film franxhise is over when the 3rd movie left it wide open for a 4th film and the novel said "To be Continued". As long as they finish it in some form, I'll be happy. Unlike the S.D. Perry series, which looks like it'll never be ended. :(

You know, I'm not going to see this and am not interested at all, but... couldn't they come up with a title that's less ripe of a target as "Degeneration?"

I forgot about this too and if Mila Jovonich isn't involved then I'm not interested, she made a great Alice. I still haven't seen Resident Evil: Extinction yet.

^ This reminds me of something important:

This has NO RELATION to the live action films previously released (Resident Evil, Apocalypse, Extinction). This follows the continuity of THE GAMES. Characters such as Alice Abernathy/Janus Prospero will not appear.

I kinda want to play it instead of watching it. Boy, that music takes me back.

I'm on dial-up so I can't watch this; what's the CGI quality? Advent Children? Video game cut scene?

And when does it come out?

I almost wish this was a game instead of a movie. Anything to play as Leon and Claire again. (Nothing against Chris, but I always liked the RE2 characters better.)

I'm very glad to hear that those horrible abominations of live action films are over, and that future ones will hopefully follow the games like this one. I look forward to it.

RE5 needs to hurry the hell up, too.

hang on for those of us who have only ever seen the movies (ie. me (& ive still not seen the 3rd yet)), is this a animated sequel to the trilogy, or a movie more in-line with the games?
