Another vote here for "nice touch." "Star Trek Enterprise" was quite a good show (as Trek goes, anyway) - and as long as there's going to be some fanwank nods in this movie (there are) one might as well be to "Enterprise."
The writers have, in fact, indicated that there are references to all the previous Trek series in the film. Of course, "Enterprise" would be one of the easier ones to work in (the 24th century shows can only be referenced as they relate to Nimoy's Spock, whereas the era of the first Enterprise is history in Kirk's time).
One person who reported on the Starfleet Academy portion of the shoot mentioned seeing a painting of the NX-01 being used at the location. So we'll see what we'll see.

In some ways I agree with this sentiment -- I mean the galaxy is SOOO big, but the same 35 people and their ancestors/descendants keep running into each other.
However, having said that, I also realize that this is just fiction, and a couple ST references -- if presented innocuously and subtly enough -- will not be a problem.
In fact, I'll be one of those fanboys who will be so damn pleased with himself when I catch a little ENT easter egg that hardly anyone (if anyone) else in the theater saw.
Yeah -- I can act like a fanwanky fanboy sometimes, but admitting this problem is half the battle.

I'd prefer a TOS relaunch without "Old Spock" or any time travel element at all, but we're not getting that - and we evidently are getting a number of Trek in-jokes and references aimed at the hard-core fan audience for the other Trek shows, if Roberto Orci is to be believed. In both instances the folks making the movie are probably showing good judgment from a commercial POV.

Since Archer was Kirk's boyhood hero, maybe a troubled young Cadet Jim will go to the museum at Starfleet Academy to seek inspiration. On display there is his favorite exhibit: a mock up of Archer's quarters on the NX-01 and a statue of greatest explorer of the 22nd century.
I'm pretty sure that this movie is not supposed to be a comedy, but Abrams did say there will be some laughs, so anything's possible.
I'm figuring that Old Spock and New Spock will be on one of those one-wheeled bike things someone posted a month or so ago, being chased by Nero and his cronies in that futuristic car that we saw in the pics from that location shoot. The Spocks speed across the Academy campus, with the car in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the mono-bike swerves, and the car strikes the statue of Archer, the head of which falls off, and crashes through the car's windshield. Then Cate Blanchette reads everyone's minds, and Spock learns that he is his own son, and marries Marion Ravenwood.
