Report: Discovery moving to Netflix

According to this report, CBS is planning to move their new Trek to Netflix:

"We have exclusively learned that CBS is working on bringing its new Star Trek shows to Netflix. Currently the company has four new Trek series running on its streaming network CBS All-Access: Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Short Treks. All four have struggled to find an audience and while some might blame the quality of the shows, my sources at CBS tell me they think the big problem is getting the word out about CBS All-Access."

Why would CBS send their flagship All Access program to a different streaming service? The only thing I could imagine would be past seasons to wet appetites for other trek shows they are currently carrying. And as much as I like Discovery, I'm not sure Discovery season one is the gateway drug I'd offer.

The credibility of this report lost me at "has struggled to find an audience."

As has been discussed multiple times on this board...CBS wouldn't be making more Star Trek if it wasn't profitable in the model they have set up.

Smells like llama shite.

But...of course...anything is possible! It just seems whacky. It doesn't strike me as something that would drive significant new numbers to Netflix, so I'm also not sure what they would have to gain either. But, admittedly, I don't work in the industry, so my ignorance is considerable.

Not to mention the fact that Discovery was renewed for both Season 4 and Season 5 already.
So, yeah... if it was struggling to find the audience, I don't think renewals of this magnitude would have happened.

What I've read, it sound like they only puting earlier seasons of the new star trek series on Netflix. Depends on when the contract comes into effect. It will be first two season of Discovery. It is possible that all three seasons will be on Netflix.

At one time some of these series may appear on Netflix in the US but this will have nothing to do with the linked message. It is simply a compilation of inventions and gossip and alternative facts, which are partly from Fandom Menace. Anyway, as you can see on this website it is not the first time.

Has to be earlier seasons. If it's new season of Trek shows then they may as well forget about rebranding to Paramount+ and shut down CBS all access.

Yeah, if new Trek was doing so bad, they wouldn't have signed on all these new people to work on new seasons and shows. The other day I saw an ad for All Access and it was chock full of Discovery clips. Why would you put that in there if it were failing?

They are trying fix something that ain't broke. And I don't mean the streaming services.

Get back to episodic TV sci-fi. Have some overlying story arcs, but it's not knowing what you're in for from week to week and the wonderful character development that comes with that is what we are missing. The new shows are just a quick linear story. A season is what would have been a 2 part Trek episode at best.

Episodic gives us new planets, aliens characters etc. constantly.

Strange New Worlds is the series that will give you what you want.

Lower Decks too, but I'll assume you mean live-action and more serious.

Here in UK, Netflix has all discovery episodes up... And it's putting up season 3 episodes on a weekly basis as well (just a day later than USA).

Yes prefer live action for sure. Currently on the 1st season of Stargate, so I have plenty to keep me occupied.
