Remove one episode from Trek canon.

This topic is pretty appalling to me. I would no more authorize the de-canonization of a TOS episode than I would choose one of my own children to be killed. Of course the easy answer of worst TOS episode would be 'Spock's Brain", but I would no more have it taken out of canon than I would choose the child who has downs syndrome to die. I am extremely grateful that no of those who participated in the thread have the power to act upon their wishes.

And I'm appaled by the fact that for you a dead thing obviously is as important as a living being. Sure, we all like Star Trek but comparing your feelings toward the episodes to feelings about your own children is kind of creepy IMHO. :wtf:

Try looking up the word "allegory" in a dictionary sometime.

I don't have to. :techman:

I just wanted to show you that you're not the only one who can post unnecassary polemic posts in a perfectly innocent thread. Finally there is someone hiding the newest worst/most useless episode theme under a new cover and you have nothing better to do but to post your little "rant".

TNG: "Force of Nature": If they're going to shove a message down our throats, at least make it entertaining and do it without resorting to inane premises.

DS9: "Chrysalis": Bashir's ethics kind of go out the window here. Besides, I hate the Jack Pack.

VOY: "Fair Haven"/"Spirit Folk": I'm no fan of Janeway, but even I have a hard time believing she'd put her holo-boytoy ahead of the safety of her shipmates.

ENT: I'll go with the majority and say TATV. Riker came off looking like a schmuck, and the ENT characters didn't fare much better.

These are the voyages. It ruined the only decent season of Enterprise, it ruined a great TNG episode and it made Riker look like a dick.

I would eliminate one of the movies first! Which one? FIRST CONTACT! By introducing that idiotic idea of a Borg Queen, TREK took away the 'balls' of a great creation and made them just another lame TREK alien species. That movie gave out up-front excitement, in exchange for long range gutting of the Borg. Terrible...just terrible.

One of these days, my smart-assedness will get the better of me...

allegory- 1. a story in which people, things, and events have a symbolic meaning; allegories are used for teaching or explaining ideas, moral principles, etc. 2. the presenting of ideas by such stories. 3. any symbol or emblem.

While I think that's close to what you meant, may I suggest...

analogy-1. similarity in some respects; partial resemblance. 2. comparing of somrthing point by point with something similar.

Or...

metaphor - 1. a figure of speech that suggests a likeness by speaking of one thing as if it were another.

BTW "Shades of Grey" followed closely by TATV.

Etymologically yours,

Biggshow

TATV, which was surprisingly efficient in its ability to steal from one decent Trek series (TNG) while totally raping the very series it was supposed to be the finale for. To this day, I wonder WTF the Bs, Paramount, Viacom, and whoever else responsible for that abortion were thinking???? Honestly, Brittney Spears looped up on too much meds could have done a better job coming up with a decent series finale for ENT.

And what really gets me is that now there seems to be this trend to blame an active fanbase of a franchise for crimes like TATV. Sorry Hollywood - we fans know perfectly well who to blame when you RETARDS come up with crap like TATV. Keep telling your investors and affiliates that it is all us crazy fans. We will just shake our heads as we see you guys totally screw up what has proven to be one of THE most money-making fanchises in Hollywood history. Keep telling them that as you go out the door unemployed and the networks crank out yet more cheap reality fare and bad remakes because that's all Hollywood seems to know how to do anymore.

The entire casts of Ent, TNG, and Manny Cotto deserve a long-standing apology from all involved for that abomination.

Well, maybe not Manny Coto--season 4 is my least favorite.

I started a thread about "what were they thinking" that got some interesting responses in the Enterprise forum, if you want to check it out. Some of our fellow forum members do actually know what B&B were thinking, though most agree that they didn't execute what they were thinking well at all!

I'm with most folks here: "These Are the Voyages".

Amen! Horrible! The kid Picard sounds like freakin' Tiny Tim in a community theatre production of "A Christmas Carol." Barf-inducing! -- RR

"And Q bless us, everyone!" :D

Let me see... how many episodes are in DS9? Huh?! What do you mean I can only pick ONE?! They must all die! every last episode!
Then my life could be happy again...

It's a good thing you didn't post this in the DS9 forum, for your sake. ;)

DEFCON: You didn't like Assignment Earth? I agree it was a bit "off-track" or should I say, "off-trek", but considering was intended to be a pilot, I thought it was acceptable.

In fact my young teenage self was astounded when I learned that the powers-that-be passed it by when they could have made a series out of it. I remain convinced that it would have been another Roddenberry success story.

May I ask your reasoning?

Omega Glory was pretty pathetic, but I must admit that Spock's

Thank you.

Omega Glory was pretty pathetic, but I must admit that Spock's Brain tickled me way back when, when I saw it the first time.

Thank you.

Um, lighten up?

What does children dying have to do with anything? :wtf:

Anyway, TATV obviously.

There are way too many of these to choose from, I could never choose just one. So, by series:

TOS: Catspaw
TNG: Code of Honor
DS9: If Wishes Were Horses
VOY: Threshold
ENT: Acqusition (I had given up on the show by the time TATV hit the airways so I won't pass judgment on it.)

The only 2 series of Trek that I watched religiously were TNG and ENT so this isn't even a contest for me

These Are The Voyages

I mean an episode that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth about my 2 favorites Treks is very very bad and should be destroyed and banished from existence

I still get angry about this ep today and in my personal canon/AU it didn't happen

I have not been in there, nor do I have the desire. :vulcan:
