Remembering Gene Roddenberry

Today is the 20th anniversary of Gene Roddenberry's death.

You know, the guy who did that show we all talk about.

Kind of surprised there aren't any threads on this (though there might be, I haven't bothered to check yet) so I thought I'd take a moment to remember the guy. Writer, producer, asshole, genius, visionary, whatever you think about the guy, he played a part in bringing us all together here, so here's to his memory.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations indeed.

Whatever his flaws, I'm satisfied he was a remarkable visionary, in the positive senses of the word. He certainly deserves credit for creating Star Trek.

I sincerely hope someone scrupulous is overseeing his documents and writings like all great people's things should be like Serlings, etc. He made a speech at a Trek Convention about why Humanity should survive and I missed it. I guess I was looking for the Star Trek Dancers like everybody else. It seemed like when he was talking in his gentle way, the crowd was always making noise and talking and nobody could hear him, like he was a second class third rate guest with some stupid nonsense to say. I would love to read his thoughts unedited or adulterated. Yvonne Fern's book was a nightmare. She left out the best stuff and classified that little show called Star Trek as the media salvation for the internally inept.

The original manuscripts of the composers should be preserved better from Courage, Steiner, etc. Not just thrown about and given away as trophies to indescriminant collectors and such.
