Steven was sentenced to 13 years in prison for armed robbery in 2010 and died on July 31, 2011, at the age of 36, of a heroin overdose while in prison in Tucson, Arizona.

Apparently his mother had posted on a Dr. Phil forum around the time Carl was arrested. She said he got hooked on heroin while working in Hollywood. He was arrested 5 or 6 times for burglary or theft to support his habit.
