Remastered Nightmare

Never eat anything with chipotle sauce right before you go to sleep.

I did.

I dreamt I was watching an episode of Star Trek remastered, but it had been remastered in 1978 by the same Chinese editors who attempted to finish Bruce Lee's incomplete last movie. You know, they'd take another actor attempted to rotorscope Bruce Lee's face on.

The remastered version had worse special effects that the original series.

It had been re-edited with poorly synched dialog and hideous new storylines. It was called something like, "The Super New Star Trek Adventures Featuring Captain Chekhov".

The plot focused around our current insane earthly 21th century view of aliens: semi-demonic shadowly figures that abduct people and then, uh, probe and abuse them in some futuristic laboratory. All with that Alexander Courage music in the background.

Somehow between the hideous special effects and butchering of my favorite 60's TV show, it was the top three most horrifying things I have ever witnessed. I mean, I've been to war in Iraq and this was worse.

Just thought I'd share that. I've had Star Trek dreams before, but never like this.

I know what you mean. Whenever I get probed, Star Trek music is playing in the background. It's enough to turn a guy away from Trek altogether.

All joking aside, it was like what happened to Alex and his love of Beethoven after his "treatment" in A Clockwork Orange. It's hard to reverse such a negative association attached to such a beloved thing.

Of course, there's so much to love and despise about Trek, one more negative association isn't going to make too much of a difference. I mean, now that's it's been a few days, that nightmare is only about as painful to think about as, say, Shatner acting like a horse in Plato's Stepchildren.

I hate when you get nasty dreams like that, especially ones which you remember every detail of clearly in the morning. They can put a cloud over the whole day.

I had a weird Trek dream a little while ago when I went to sleep right after watching the DVDs, nothing particularly troubling though. Kirk, Spock, McCoy and myself running round the aisles in Woolworths and arguing over who got to buy the chocolate easter eggs that were reduced in the sale :wtf: Okay...

Ah, of course, The Star Trek Easter Special. Yeah, I remember that one. Didn't quite make canon, did it?

Sorry, that was The Star Wars Holiday Special. Don't remember much about it, other than it was the most wasted two hours I suffered through in 1978.

George Lucas still needs to issue a formal apology.

:guffaw:

I needed to hear something like that today.

...The Star Wars Holiday Special....

I gather he sort of did. From what I've heard, he's somehow blocked it from ever seeing the light of day again, so nobody will ever see it who hasn't, and nobody who's seen it will ever see it again.

Of course, there are those bootleg copies that occasionally surface...

I actually had a Trek dream too last night (I'm actually not joking here), but it was nowhere close to as interesting as yours was. In it, I got to see the new Abrams "Star Trek" movie. But the only thing that was different or memorable about it was that all of the uniform shirts had zippers down the front.

I'm not sure what that says about my imagination....

Of course, Star Trek was inwented in Russia as "The Super New Star Trek Adventures Featuring Captain Chekhov", and was shown to Navy crewmen on nucwear wessels.

Never had any TOS dreams. Had a TNG dream about some post First Contact t.v. episodes, maybe it was from an alternate timeline.
