Remake SW New Hope!

ANH is perfect that way it is, warts and all. It has a classic 30/40s movie serial feel to it. Hell, it was perfect before George decided to edit it into "The Special Edition".

ANH and ESB are the only Star Wars movies that I don't think could use some improvements and tweaks.

Maybe this is why fans SHOULDN't have input into the process of a movie.

If vader used his lightsaber in the beginning, it would lessen the impact of the reveal when Obi Wan shows Luke the lightsaber.

Luke's magic bullet does NOT destroy the entire Death Star and make him a mass murder. Instead it just disables the reactor and strikes the entire thing dead in space.

Weeeell.. firing a torpedo or two into a huge, honkin reactor able to power a moon sized combat station would probably not disable it but let it go critical. End result would be the same.. big kaboom.

As to the rest.. could be done well and wouldn't be so bad. It wouldn't be "our" Star Wars anymore but hat hasn't been since Lucas thought of himself to be a good director and writer when he started to write and direct the prequels.

As bad an idea this is (Altho, admittedly some cool bits are involved), when Lucas dies, and some studio gets ahold of his rights to the films, sure, they'll sit on it for a few years as a mark of respect to the man, but you just KNOW come 30 years time we'll all be willing to see Star Wars (Just star wars, we dont need a title to confuse people) with ker-raaaazzy new mind cg effects that make you think your actually there. And then go out and buy Star Wars merchandise, because you want to.

Yes, thats my vision come 2039, and its horrifying.

A while back another forum I frequent had a similar thread. My casting suggestion was that Princess Leia should be played by Summer Glau. I also suggested that ROTJ be heavily rewritten to include a lot more metal bikini time:drool:.

^Hey, we're talking future remakes here. The bikini would therefore obviously be transparent aluminum.

Yes, it will start with a kid driving a convertible round Tatooine until he gets stopped by C3PO
"My name is Luke Skywalker!"

"For George"

cue crazy techno version of the star wars theme

then to make it realistic the beginning crawl will be read by the manifestation of the force, who is played by a british actor in a white cloak

Sorry, but Lucas has already said he arranged it so that no one else will ever be able to make another SW movie after he dies.

Jude Law as that Imperial guy who gets choked by Vader (I'm gonna pretend I don't know the character's name is Motti)
No no, David Hewlett! :rommie:

Why not? Sean Maher could be Luke and Nathan Fillion is already everybody's choice for Han.

Not surprising, really.

There was a interview with one of his kids, ages ago (his son, I think) where he/she said they'd like to start making Star Wars movies based on some of the video games, like KOTOR, if their father would let them.

Considering his son is only, like, 15, I doubt you read an interview with him ages ago.
I said "I think" it was his son. It was one of his kids, right around the time that episode III was gearing up to come out. It was one of those "the family behind the man" sort of articles and the kid was going on and on about wanting to be a film maker like their father and when the subject of them making SW movies it was something to the effect that they were only interested in the SW games and if their dad would let them they would make movies out of the games.

Regarding the initial post:

This is why (most) fans aren't filmmakers. Almost every idea there is bad and would do nothing to improve the story, pacing, or drama.
