I'd remake DS9 as "Star Trek: All Ferengi, All the Time". When the Cardassians left Bajor they sold Terok Nor to the Ferengi who stuffed it full of their own people. Avery Brooks would return as the Federation ambassador and only human on the station who has to deal with the Ferengi's zany schemes week after week.

And then, to cover all genres, in addition to my gritty HBO drama about Cardassian-run Terok Nor and your sitcom about the Ferengi-run Deep Space 9, we can make yet a third remake: a pro-wrestling show about a Klingon-run DS9 that would consist entirely of a Klingon version of WWE fights, interspersed with scenes of heavy drinking.

What? WWE is Science Fiction! Ask the SciFi channel. :klingon:

Vidiians and Krenim.

lolwhut.

From what I've seen, they were among the more liked of the DQ races - with reason too, since they had great motivations which made them rather grey villians - despite the awful depths they go to to achieve their goals.

Indeed - I would've preferred to have had them for longer than we got in the series as is.

Dude, the simple truth is that the fandom hated every single alien race VOY came up with. In fact most were ready to hate ANY new races they came up with before they even got on air. It's why they got rid of most of them and started using the Borg more, because every attempt at a new enemy that WASN'T established in a prior series got nothing but negative reactions.

If I was in charge, I'd give a well-deserved STFU to the fans and keep using them. Mainly because you're right, they WERE good aliens. But unfortunately all the fandom saw was that "They aren't Klingons/Romulans/Borg!".

I'd make a new series based on the New frontier series but leave out a lot of the OTT sex and romance scenes. I like it in the books but I think it would overshadow the actual plot if used in a TV series.

I voted "none" because I find too often that remakes end up becoming gigantic disasters (if not financially, then they at least often ruin the fond memories we had for the original). As such, I say "leave well enough alone." FYI, I don't consider the Treks that followed TOS to be "remakes"; certainly they were cashing in on the franchise, but they contributed new characters, situations and (mostly) new ideas.

I'd like to see the second 5-year mission of TOS, pyjamas and all - animation would do. In fact, I'd like a grittier Trek with TMP era technology and a mixture of the main Trek aliens mixed in with the B5 aliens and maybe the Farscape aliens ooh and the Ma'gog from Andromeda too. Is that sooo much to ask?
