Well, it wasn't intended to be a swipe. I was merely pointing out how I thought someone would read your post.I don't know how I'll ever go on after such a swipe.
It's always 'okay'. It only has to be entertaining. Because this is what all of this is about. I want to be entertained. Merely adhering to a fictional history isn't necessarily entertaining in and of itself.... can I at least ask when its okay to go against the established backstories, backdrops and characterizations of fictional works of art?
I wouldn't.Many people on these very boards would moan if a character’s race is changed from white to black.
Exactly. What's the big deal? Its all just fiction.
Yeah, because everyone liking this movie doesn't do it because he really liked it all by himself, but because others are telling him so. How incredibly presumptuous. But don’t take offense to those of us not drinking the kool-aid.
It's not. It's the very same thing. Its quite another thing to cast a completely entire new set of actors to play characters originated over 40 years ago by another set of actors.
^ So, which one is you?

I knew exactly to whom you were referring to. That's why I thought it was presumptuous.I wasn't referring to Nimoy. I'm referring to the lovefest being spread aroud the net by Trekkies/Trekkers regarding this movie.Yeah, because everyone liking this movie doesn't do it because he really liked it all by himself, but because others are telling him so. Well, my opinion of Nimoy just dropped a couple of notches because of that statement.
Of course when you are making BIG BUCKS off of this stuff that probably affects you opinion.
"Canon is only important to certain people because they have to cling to their knowledge of the minutiae," Nimoy told Reuters. "Open your mind! Be a 'Star Trek' fan and open your mind and say, 'Where does Star Trek want to take me now'."
ok............![]()
They DIDN'T NEED TO REBOOT, it could of all been done in the Star Trek Universe, not the Abrahms Verse (which is les canonical to me than the shatnerverse)
