For some strange reason, rock music is sadly rejected in Star Trek.
Riker likes jazz, Kim plays clarinet and they have different musical events here and there. But no rock music and it's my intention to change that.
In fact, I have discovered some hidden references to rock music here and there in Voyager episodes and books and it's an honor for me to present them:
Kes eats Beatles
From the Voyager episode "Elogium"
KIM: "This had a lot of Traffic once"
NEELIX: "Traffic"?
From the Voyager book "The Escape"
He (the alien Kjanders) had never been in such an orderly place
Even the colors on Voyager were tame. No bright orange, no deep purple.
(LYNX: What, no Deep Purple on Voyager? Look here!)
From the Voyager book "The Escape"
Kathryn Janeway yawned as she stretched The Kinks from her back.
From the Voyager book "Incident at Arbuk"
CHAKOTAY: Chief Inspector Tuvok leaves no Stone unturned.
From the Voyager episode "State of Flux"
