Redesigned DY-100 (ENT era kitbash)

So I've been trying to come up with something for a redesigned DY-100 for quite some time now, gone through a couple VERY differing designs, and I'm finally settling with this one.

By all means, tell me what you think, I might end of changing it again if you guys don't care for it.

She's mostly taken from Arctic One, the ship that was Borgified in ENT "Regeneration", the storage pod and fuel pods are taken from the J class and the engines are taken from the ship seen just before the NX during the ENT intro.

I'm also working on a JJ Daedalus design, but that probably wont be done for at least a week.

Hmmmm, I could see that as a contemporary from the same shipyards that gave us the DY-100, -500 and company...but not as a reimagined DY-100.

Hold onto that design anyway.

All things considered, I kinda like this redesign, at least compared to my last version:

Way too Halo/Alien looking. The design made sense in my head, maybe I just need to learn how to model and make it that way.

Both of those designs would fit into the Archer Years with no problem. Just give'em different names.

One suggestion would be to move the cargo modules a little further back. When Loaded with all the modules they would encircle the ship. With the way you have it now the bridge tower would interfere with the top modules.

In my design, the cargo modules only encircle 3/4ths of the ship. It will hold 3 pods, which are essentially the ones from the J class on ENT. I kinda like the asymmetry of not having it entirely encircle the craft.
Although, while doing the orthos, I may make it longer to give it a better flow.

The only thing I might do differently - when/if you make it longer - is add space for a second cluster of cargo pods.

But that's just me...

Man, that is much better. I like that one alot. It's close enough to the original design, but also looks updated enough to look good along with other newer styled ships.

Not yet, no. Working on it. I'll be starting on them after I finish some NuTrek uniform reskins for Bridge Commander.

I'd say it looks more like a DY-750.

By all means, go for it. And in actuallity, I use GIMP, not Photoshop. GIMP isn't my first choice, but it's free.

However, "Maddy", if you are to use my design, try using a slightly more updates one:

Top one is what she looks like will all cargo pods, middle one is to show what she looks like under the pods, and the bottom one is all our favorite DY-100, the Botany Bay.

Btw, the reason that the body goes really thin near the rear of where the pods are is so that crew members can open a hatch located on the thinner part and get into the cargo pod's secondary access port in case of emergency.

Still need to figure out where I'm gonna put the fuel pods on this one. I'm trying to keep 8 of them, but 6 could work too.
