I don't know 3DSM but I know CAD. You get me plans (orthographic view) Top, Front, Side and Rear and I could get started on a 3D I could send to you. You could open in 3DSM.

So I've been trying to come up with something for a redesigned DY-100 for quite some time now, gone through a couple VERY differing designs, and I'm finally settling with this one.

By all means, tell me what you think, I might end of changing it again if you guys don't care for it.

She's mostly taken from Arctic One, the ship that was Borgified in ENT "Regeneration", the storage pod and fuel pods are taken from the J class and the engines are taken from the ship seen just before the NX during the ENT intro.

I'm also working on a JJ Daedalus design, but that probably wont be done for at least a week.

Regardless of where it's from or what it's intended for I gotta say I rather like this. Well done.

Johnny, do you mind if I build a 3d version of this eventually? If I remember correctly, you are just doing this in photoshop, right?

By all means, go for it. And in actuallity, I use GIMP, not Photoshop. GIMP isn't my first choice, but it's free.

However, "Maddy", if you are to use my design, try using a slightly more updates one:

Top one is what she looks like will all cargo pods, middle one is to show what she looks like under the pods, and the bottom one is all our favorite DY-100, the Botany Bay.

Btw, the reason that the body goes really thin near the rear of where the pods are is so that crew members can open a hatch located on the thinner part and get into the cargo pod's secondary access port in case of emergency.

Still need to figure out where I'm gonna put the fuel pods on this one. I'm trying to keep 8 of them, but 6 could work too.

But, yes, much better and stylistically appropriate for NuTrek or ENT, really. My only nit was fixed in the 'pod revision' you showed later, which would allow the circular pod attachments. I would probably also add the solar generators on the aft somehow, but this is far and well an improvement for the design. Kudos.

With your talent for gimp between us this ship could go on Bridge Commander files as a game down load. I could handle the 3D and I could give you precise images maping the textures to cover the ship.

I'm learning how to do this in CAD but I've absolutely never done it.

Well, the sketches are on hold for just the moment, I'm more of a hands on kinda guy when it comes to design, so either I'm going to make a clay model of it and take ortho pics or make a really simplistic version in Spore and go from there.

Also, I'm redoing the bridge a bit to resemble a submarine more closely.
